Just bought this in SE MI. Hopefully, get it built pretty soon. If it looks familiar, please let me know. I want to know what's been done to it. I got it in Marine City from some guys that said they didn't do anything, but the valve cover is clean and a few of the hoses were installed wrong. I fixed what I found and am moving on. Thanks

I figured rollbar would know when I saw the area you got it. My dad wanted me to park my first across the street. When they were moving, I left it for him to drive and he strated liking it. I think he was disappointed when I sold it.

I sold it to pick up an '86 Land Cruiser with only 93k(?) on it that was in great shape. Needless to say, cash in hand, I went back to their place and they sold it the day before.:(

That sucks if that's the case. I know early model Toys were imported, but now-a-days, most Toyotas and Hondas are fully sourced and assembled in NA. I work for a supplier and have first hand knowledge.

This is the first Toy I bought, but had a Samurai a few years back and loved it. Had to sell it, ever since then I regretted it. I couldn't find another in similar condition for less than $3000. Finding this with the removeable top is the next best thing. Jeeps are too expensive for what they are, coming from a multiple time Dodge owner.

Thanks

Right now, Toyota, Honda and Subaru are more than 75% of our business. The D3 started reducing its numbers more than a year ago. Our planners had an idea about what was happening before it was "officially" happening.

I believe it will be a good rig. I plan to do minor stuff for now, ie line the interior, get the basics done and running good, start with 3" Downey springs and BJ spacers. Over the winter, unless needed earlier, timing chain/engine rebuild, SAS, more lift.

Wish me luck.:beerbang:

The pitman is bomb proof. The idler won't snap, but the shaft bends. If you adjust the front for more than 1" of lift the odds of idler failure go up. Running 33's with adjusted in lift increases it more. Add a locker to the mix and you will probably wreck idler arms every time you wheel. If you run stock tires at stock height, the stock idler is fine.

If you have slop in your idler arm and want to replace it, I would say get the one I recommended, it's the best. You can just replace the bushings too. They are like $8. If you find you are going through them a lot, then you can consider upgrading.

No worries at all. A blue 89 4runner was my first 4X4, I miss it.

I'm the one that makes the spacers so if you have any questions feel free to PM or email sales@sdori.com. www.sdori.coma also has instructions on how to align your truck yourself if you want.

Funny thing about the idler bushings. When we were looking for which idler arm to support as far as bushings we thought we were going to support the high end Napa or the OEM because we assumed they would be the strongest. We went and bought a bunch of different ones and go figure, the $60-$75 arm turned out to also be the best.

So we now make bushings that arm.

Any one know of a good Toy mechanic in SE MI or Ann Arbor area? It looks like I will need to get the timing chain replaced sooner than expected. I don't have the space or time at the moment and need to get it done.

Also, I have the chain and new metal guides (kit), probably need to order a cover. What do you estimate the labor will cost for this job?

Thanks
