Are these known for being 'noisy' engines? I checked out one today and it sounded almost like a diesel, a noticeable 'clacking' from the top end. I've read these are know for toasting rod bearings once the head gaskets go...which the gaskets have recently been done.

What will a bad rod bearing sound like?

I don't know if this is just some valvetrain/timing clatter or a noisy fuel injector or what. Do these engines up a timing chain or belt? (could be chain slap)

3.0 uses a belt....and yes they are noisy....mine has been clattering for two years now....never gives an inch on power tho...over 200,000. on the engine and been rolled twice
