Here is a picture of my latest project. So far, the frame and box have been blasted, the frame has 2 fresh coats of POR15 along with the bottom of the tub, new wire harness, rebuilt axle, spring over conversion and new 33" x 10.5 super swampers. I can use 1 spare for the trailer and CJ now. I've got 3 jerry cans to mount and I'm going to figure out how to mount a cooler externally (probably on a rack on the back). I also plan on applying decals to make it match my CJ and Herculiner for the inside of the bed. Pretty fun project. Not alot of cost and simple to do.

If you decide you don't want the pintle, I will trade you for my modified ball hitch that mounts in the original pintle location. You still retain the swivel with the convenience of a ball hitch. The pintle was cut and the ball hitch welded to the old mount, common mod to them.

I hope you got some $$ out of the Bantam you traded too, that thing was clean and complete....

I love these little trailers, though 99grandTJ has put more miles on mine then I have :(

I took off the M416 wheels and tires and mounted up my CJ wheels and tires I had.

The hitch is OD now, this was from wen I bought it.

Here is mine :woot: I straightened the fender and changed the wheels, that is about it.

Ok. Thanks. I'll keep it in mind.

No cash but lot's of extra goodies to even it out!!!

You've got a real nice looking trailer yourself! I see you have replace the rear lights, was this because they broke off via tree, rock, etc.? I only ask because mine came with the Mutt style lights (non blackout) and i'm trying to decide whether i go with custom lights flush mounted in the trailer frame (included in the trade also) or with the originals. I like the looks of the originals, but they seem like they could be a branch magnet.

My lights were changed out when I got it, I have been trying to locate some originals or similar to go in their place, same with the lunette. My trailer is being painted gray with navy markings to match my flatty when I paint it. (The flatty will look Navy as well)

One of those lights IS broken though, 99grandTJ caught one on his other trailer moving ir around. I was going to replace them with LED military replica lights if I couldn't find originals.

I plan on outfitting mine as an adventure trailer with a tent setup on top of it eventually.

If I decide to go with the in-frame lights, I'll let you know and shoot you a couple pictures of the lights I have. I also have the orignial parking brake assembly that I don't have any need for, don't know if you need that also. I'm planning on selling that on Ebay or something.

I'd love to add a tent also, but I have a 30 foot travel trailer and a cabin in the woods up north, so I can't see me using the trailer a whole lot for camping.....although I've made more irresponsible purchases before!!!! :)

Personally I would keep that parking brake... it has been EXTREMELY handy to have, I absolutely LOVE mine. I can park the trailer anywhere and it will not move at ALL. I set the brake and put the jeep in 4 low and drug the tires on the trailer :tonka:

I actually have no reason for a tent on the trailer either... I have a 24' motorhome I need to finish the interior on, I have a brand new HUGE camping on the ground tent. I want it because I want to do some camping off trails, and I am trying to convince the fiancee to move to Colorado with me after we get married, way better then sleeping on rock with the regular tent.

trailer build update

Ok. Here are some updated pics. I added a coat of POR15 chassis coat over the exposed parts to add a UV blocker. I also hit the inside of the bed with 2 coats of Herculiner. I also hit all the nooks and crannys with POR15 because there is no way I can cut the camo accurate enough to fill every crack. I started on the camo last night and should be able to finish it today. The brainacks at Camoclad decided to go to a digital HD version of the Max4HD camo I have on my CJ so the pattern isn't exactly the same - but who cares I guess.....

I will also be mounting the lights and completing the wiring over the next couple days....Oh yeah, I replaced the shocks as well...and figured out the pintle set up to clear my spare on the back of the CJ and get the trailer to ride at about a 5-10 nose down angle so that is will ride level when loaded. I discovered I needed to 'secure' my rear bumper a little better since there was movement when I hooked up the trailer.

Ok. Here are the latest pics. I've still got to mount the cooler, water and gas jerry cans, shovel, jack, etc.

Unfortunately, the company changed the camo pattern over the past 2 years, so it doesn't match exactly, but once it's covered in mud you will never be able to tell anyway....:bdr2:

Hey man....that's a nice trailer!! I've got a custom m416 myself - lots of mods and it rolls on 35 x 14.50 x 15 tires, with over 30 inches of ground clearance under the tub! And....no straight axle hanging down. I've got independent torsion axles (purchased from Ironman) and a custom steel locking top on it too (built by Ironman).

And just a little info for those of you who were asking about the trailer - the m416 is a 1/4 ton ammo trailer. They will actually float with 500 lbs in 'em! And they do come with a 360-degree swivel lunette with a pintle hitch. I've dragged mine over some pretty rough terrain in Canada, and it goes everywhere my Jeep goes!

Sorry....no pics! However.....when Muddypaws did some of the finish work on it last year (Spring 07), he posted some pics of it. Some of the info in his posts wasn't exactly accurate, but the pics were pretty good.

The trailer isn't "right" as I want it, but it works pretty darn good for now!

Which part wasn't accurate? The part where he implied that he did the whole project soup to nuts?:tonka:

Tim, not being picky here but I think you left out the work that Victor did on it. He probably deserves a little credit too.:thumb: I don't have any pics of it but I know they are out there floating around.

Yeah....my intent in my first post (reference above) wasn't to list all of the work, people involved, etc. And I didn't mean to leave anyone out, either! Just wanted to make a quick post about having the same kind of trailer. You'll notice in my first post that I stated that Ironman built my top, and that I purchased my axles from him!

Victor did almost all of the actual build of my trailer, for which I will always be grateful! I just wish he had been able to finish it, because then it would be right!!!

And because I know someone will ask (and Pat already did) - the part that got messed up was the finish work with the axle and tire install. Simple ACCURATE measuring would have solved the problem, but you can look at the trailer and see that the axles aren't quite lined up properly. As a result, the trailer wags a little bit behind the Jeep! And the huge steel plate that was put on the bottom of the trailer was done so without any regard for the slick quick-connect light wiring harness that Victor installed along the frame rail. Now - it's covered by a massive piece of steel with NO way to access it without cutting a hole in the steel!! STUPID! And - the paint job on my top got trashed when "someone" wasn't careful with it, and then he claimed that he had no knowledge that it was trashed and couldn't understand how it happened? Did he actually think I wouldn't notice????

There's a few other things, but suffice it to say that all of the work that Vic, Bobby, and Pat did to the trailer was top-notch! :thumb:

Tim, thanks for clarifying.:thumb: I thought it odd at the time that "he" said that he needed to redo the wiring because it was faulty when I had seen the workmanship that Vic had done.

Sorry to hear it wags. Hope not too bad cuz it's always fun to watch you pulling it through the woods.
