Most people don't realize there is AC and Refrigeration that runns even at ZERO degrees F Ambient.

I happen to be on call for this week. (I work for UofM, AC/Refrigeration).

I've been working on roofs and dredging through sometimes over a foot of snow to work on some of this stuff. Mechanical Refrigeration Equipment does not like to run when it's cold out, especially when it hasn't been properly equiped.

I go to this Air Cooled Chiller that was not running and sending in alarms. I've never heard of this chiller and don't even know where it is. But when I find it, it's a pretty new unit (all controlled via its own processor), and it tells me what's wrong with it on the digital display after I open up the panel. It pretty much said,

IT'S TOOOOO FAWKIUNG COLD OUT HERE FOR ME TO RUN!

:sonicjay: Just thought I'd share. And yes, I'm so good at my job I got that bitch to run :sonicjay:

Ok...question for you.

I used to work in a produce packaging facility. The cooler I worked in was supposed to be kept at a constant 40*, but whenever it was below 30 outside, I swear that room was like 80. Why?

Oh, I also hate ammonia. Our local dairy is cooled by the stuff, and one day It sounded like a jet was taking off on top of the building. I go out to look at whats going on, and I about collapse and nearly pass out from breathing that crap.

I have a fridge in the garage.. If I remember correctly water bottles in the fridge (in winter) will not freeze but If I leave a case next to the fridge the will freeze.. can the cold temps hurt the fridge?
