I have never met a jew who tried to get me to convert to jewish religion.
I have never met a muslim who tried to get me to convert to muslim religion.
I have never met an islamic who tried to get me to convert to islam.
I have never met an aetheist who tried to make me become an aetheist.
I have never met a mormon who tried to make me become a mormon.

I have met a lot of christians who think that I am going to spontaneously combust if I don't start believing only in jesus.

My conclusion, christians are a cult not a religion.

I think I have to disagree on that one at least.

living where you do, maybe you don't get this, but I get Mormon's (Latter Day Saint...) and Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on my door from time to time, they are there to preach their faith and get converts...

also there are lots of religions which are Christians, not all are the type to try to convert every soul they meet, and some, as part of their religion feel it is their duty to do so, please stop lumping them all together.

While entertaining, it was only a "documentary" in the sense that Michael Moore's movies are "documentaries". It was "commentary".

The real issue is that the U.S. has a disproportionate number of "evangelicals", folks who believe that recruiting is an inherent part of their religious life, and that being a good recruiter makes one a better Christian. I went to Catholic school and an amazing number of my formerly observant Catholic friends/schoolmates have become non-Catholic evangelicals of the variety described.

I prefer my religion the way it was primarily practiced 50-75 years ago - i.e. low key and personal.

you need to get out more. telecommuting has taken away your exposure to all sorts of cultures...

I've had hare krishna's hand me literature back when I was younger and would simply be polite and take their stuff to avoid a conversation, have had Latter Day Saints, as well as Jehova's Witnesses attempt to evangelize on my front porch.

I've seen many an atheist attempt to convince anyone that would read their preaching that there is no God. (a form of conversion) on multiple discussion forums.

isn't islamic / muslim the same?

oh, and have you read Dianetics? by L. Ron Hubbard...? Here.... take this complimentary copy...

Jews in general don't try to convert. It's not their thing. In fact when you try to convert they will deny you at least three times typically. They walk past my house every Friday and Saturday and none have ever been like "you wanna go to temple little girl" :naughty:

I believe in live and let live.. as long as they are letting me live.. :thumb:

I am a Christian and I am proud of my faith. If you would like to talk religion or beliefs I will be happy to tell you what I believe and I will try to explain why I believe what I do. I will also listen to your beliefs and we can argue different points but at the end of the day I am not going to push you into my religion and I will not be upset if you refuse. But if you want to share the happiness I feel, then I will help you! I think that is what Christianity is all about!

We have all been through this before. It"s the obligation of Christians to share thier faith and to make aware what happens if you refuse Christ as your personal Savior.
Being separated from Christ for eternity means to be void of all things that Christ is.
Just because you don't believe in Him or who He was and what He did does not make it any less true.
I pray that God reveals Himself to everybody here that does not know Him. None of us are guarented tomorrow and if any died tonight would you know were you would be?
Jesus offers His FREE gift of salvation. There is nothing we can do on our part, it is a free gift. Nothing wrong with accepting a free gift.

I think Christians should share the word and what we believe. We should teach people that are willing about our faith and our beliefs. However if a person decides that they do not care to learn or they do not believe you should shove Christianity down their throats like a lot of people try to do. Instead you should pray to God that they will accept him. Being pushy will cause that person to fall farther from the faith.

Actually I believe you have a problem with God not people or Christians.
no, i have no issues with god besides the fact i dont believe in him. i have absolutely no bad feelings towards normal christians. i do have a problem with people like you. i think if god was real he would let his actions speak louder than his words. he would get people to follow him by showing what kind of a being he is and accept all people for who they are even if they do not chose to worship him. the god that you portray is a fear monger that wants people to follow him because if they dont they will burn in eternal damnation.

You've obviously never met a mormon then. They'll be your best friend until you don't convert, then you're basically shunned. Same with muslims - at least the modern western islamists. But you are describing American christians - really not that way with christians in other countries.

yeah...but you aren't like Aber. You and I could very easily have a discussion about said subject.

Some Christians are quite passive about thier faith and timid about sharing thier belief with others. Which is contrary to what Christ expects us to do. We are to be on fire and bold to share our faith.
Some people are comfortable boldly sharing thier faith while some are comfortable keeping it to themselves.
One scripture really turned me around in my thinking and it was, how Christ said that, if you deny me before men on earth I will deny you before my Father in heaven.
By keeping the gospel to yourself is like denying Christ before man.
A word to Christians, you need to ask for boldness and knowledge to have the ability to share His word.
I was not always confident in sharing but stepping out in faith and hoping that if only 1 accepts Christ because of what is shared here is worth all the ridicule, besides the ridicule does not bother me.
For the one you catch, I guarantee your tactics will push away hundreds more
