It's all math. The problem for most of us, myself included, is that the closer we get to our goals, the more we have to pay attention to the details.

I have stalled out as well. My goal is less bodyfat, not less weight, it is time for me to get back to tracking calories for each and every meal of the day.

I hate how tedious it is, but it's truely the only way to figure out how to get past your plateaus.

As of this AM, I have lost .97lb per week for the past 72 weeks. Or, 1.23lb per week for the past 42 weeks since joining a gym, food logging, and targeting lean protein intake goals. Point being is that I was able to lose some weight on my own, but the fat really came off under the guidance of a professional. During this time I added a couple pounds of lean mass. In August 2012, I had ~30% body fat and today I'm at 15.4%. My goal is to be in the 12-10% range Halloween.

Dealing with fatigue, soreness, and hunger is easy. It's the mental part that's a killer- breaking deeply rooted bad habits. This week I decided to really test my willpower and eliminate diet pop, chips, and candy from my diet. I traded those calories for real food calories. The cravings were insane the first three days. So far I'm clean, but it ain't easy. Potato chips, Doritos, and Skittles are my heroin.

I don't eat very many calories but I am never hungry. I eat a lot of vegetables (other than potatoes and corn of course) and I am usually stuffed after dinner. I grow a lot of my spices so the food usually tastes more delicious than anything you could buy at a quickie mart. :)

Since starting our diet in late February my son is down 31 lbs., I have lost 21.5 lbs., and my wife is down 18 lbs. My wife of course is a runner so she wasn't really out that out of shape anyway but she decided since I was going on the diet she would also. She is back to less than she weighed before having my son 19 years ago. I still have a long way to go but losing what I have lost is inspiring enough to keep going. We all also feel much better eating healthier foods, heck even my 16 year old daughter is eating better which is something we always fought with her about. She doesn't however need to lose weight she is only 102lbs. Summer is making it more challenging as being outside doing things makes it hard to eat every 3 hours to keep the metabolism fired up and in the summer I could care less about eating I just want water or lemonade all the time.

I'm about 318 now even lifting weights and watching what I ate for the most part I couldnt get under 300 lbs unless I did a strict Atkins diet then the weight came off fast and the gain faster when adding sugar back in. As Americans we have way too much temptation and bad food choices and high fructose corn syrup in just about everything! Have to try to eat whole grains and limit simple sugars.

I feel for the most part our body weight is like a thermostat and will creep to a weight and stick there and losing weight fast is like starving so ur body adapts and it is hard to drop wright after the first 20-30 lbs or so.

Keeping weight in check is very tough for many people me included. We can look at food and gain weight! :what:

Over the past year and a half I have been working to get my weight down below 200lbs. On Jan 1st 2012 I weighed 237.6lbs and finally this morning, 6/14/2013, I was down to 199.6 lbs. It has been at least 13 years since I was below 200lbs! I... haven't done any crazy diets, taken any magic weightloss pill or signed up for the latest workout program... Just watching how much I eat and trying to stay more active. Training for my first Triathlon has speed up the weight loss in the past few months, but overall it has been slow and steady.

nuthin' but a bunch of fat fukcs on this site!!!!
me included...you a$$hats have motivated me to shed some lbs now.
I stepped on my scale said 293 (it's 8 lbs light, but good to use as reference)..i nearly sh!t my pants. i'm the biggest i've ever been and everything hurts...my knees, my legs, my back, my front...

in the last 4 yrs i've had 2 back surgeries and broken my pelvis and got a new job.
i leave for work from 6a and get home at 8p pretty much daily, have re-established horrible eating habits (taco bell 3x a week for lunch), wolf down my dinner at 9p, then sit in a recliner for an hour then go to bed....i've picked up 65 lbs in the last 3 yrs...i',m afraid to know my blood pressure and i'm pretty sure my cholesterol level is 100%

but i still ride mx bikes a couple of times a month (mostly trail riding), i like to hunt and fish and i'd like to see my pecker again

i'm down 10# to 283 (or 291, remember my scale is just a reference)
i need ot see 200....i'm gonna do it with the rest of you fat bastards

keep up the good work and i'm gonna try like hell to do the same

Write that down somewhere that you see it everymorning... It will give you the motivation to get your A$$ in gear. :thumb: Good luck and keep at it - we are all rooting for you.

A month ago I got pissed off because I was so close to hitting 200 lbs and then after a weekend of drinking I put on 5lbs. I had worked too hard to get so close so I gave up Beer for the last month. With a family that owns a Microbrewery and a consulting job where I am entertaining customers every week it was REALLY hard to do. I have now hit my goal that I said I would not drink until I hit - but now that I haven't had it in a month I am not sure if I want to have another one.

Anyways - good luck! :thumb:

How's everyone doing?

I'm down 120#, been mountain biking some of the forest preserve trail's around here in the nice morning's, feels great.

grandcherokee, I'm drink only water and the occasional hot tea. If i crave something with flavor i throw a lemon and lime in the water, or i go to a lacroix flavored sparkling water.

Also went through my clothes the other day, two large garbage bags full of stuff that isn't even close to fitting me anymore. some stuff i had gotten too fat for and then blew by it slimming down.

Closet is emptier, but now i need an entire new wardrobe, and worst, a new suit. even with a belt last week i looked like a kid in his dads pants lol
