just finishing up my tj and my buddys tj(wheelsofsteele). he did a 60 front w 60 rear out of a 79 ford. had a rubicon long arm so we changed the upper links in rear, tossed the rear trackbar and built a 3 link for the front. i did a 60 front 14 bolt rear,3 link front, leaves in the rear. streched to 103. i built new arms for the front and 2.5 currie joints. will post up pictures and more detail when i figure out how to get these pictures in photobucket. we started mikes jeep july 29 sun night and finishing it up today. his tj is a 1997 mine is a 2003. there is some diffrent stuff between the years.i will give detail on what we ran into.

he didnt want to cut his fenders up yet. he is at 98, so we did stretch the front a couple and the rear. i took mine back to 101 comp cut the rear.should be able to show pic of finished product w tires this weekend.

we will thanks. rubicon express told him he could just angle them in and make a brace over the axle. well no way. we had to cut the upper mounts off the skid and make new ones. would not allow the arms to come in far enough. didnt want that bind anyhow.

mike spent half of a day on the axles. put all new brakes and rotors front and new disc setup on rear. new seals and bearing throughout the front and rear. took alot of trips to the chassie shop to get the right steering setup. 7/8 heims misaligment joints. all the little stuff. built a new trac bar mount and not real happy with it. think we will make another one.we need to put ring and pinion in his yet (5.38),but we drove it around with the 4.10 and stock tires...drives nice no bump steer and no driveline vibration.

yea mike has 38's and i have 39 irok"s.

these are both gay, you need to find something better to do with your time that you're good at :poke:

but seriously they look good. I used small superflex joints on my uppers and man was that a mistake, I've blown those things apart to many times now. I'm slowly switching them over to rod ends. Wish I would've gone with all large diameter arms and currire johny joints, those things are nice IMO. I probably should just change all my uppers to the large diameter with the JJ but I'm a cheap ass ....even though I'll just be paying more in the long run. If I were you I'd replace them now with something stronger.

what are you runnign for gears/lockers?

mike will be doing more regular stuff with his. i am sure he will put some better joints in.mine is for beating on only, so i am the stupid one and will try anything,it is a 03 w 7000 miles on it and been on it's side 4 times. i built new arms for mine 2.5 dom with 2.5 currie joints. those joints were a bitch to get together but will be worth the time. running 5.38, welded rear, detroit front.

a few pict, the silver tj is mine. 103 wheelbase, finish my steering and shocks, build new rear driveshaft.finish mounting my winch, done!! mike tore his track bar mount back off and his uppr 3 link mount. we took it out and beat on it for a day and found his week spot. upper3 link mount was not strong enough. cant say i didnt tell him so!!so he made a new one. his will be ready to try out again tonight. the jumping pict, that was mikes jeep the day before we took it down.

Looking good. Nice to see some more people beating on perfectley good jeeps. I rolled mine all the way over and then had to drag it down the hill to flip it back over on my second time out on the 1 ton build. Just stretched it in the front and went to four link and it is so much better. I am at 105" now. This is perfect for me.
