The 4.2L V6 is known for blowing head and intake gaskets. Early years, like the one you're looking at, also had bad timing cover seals that leaked coolant into the crankcase. There are a few other problems as well. Just google it and see for yourself. I've heard of people driving them with little or no problems, but I've also heard of those that have nothing but problems. I consider the 4.2L V6 a pathetic replacement for the 4.9L straight six, but then again I prefer my sixes inline.
has 'active' intake butterfly things that like to stick or not function. makes noticeable power differences
