Doing the standard gray with flakes. Just curious if anybody applied the clear coat after which is recommended. I'm worried about it being very very shiny.

Any experiences?

I got mine from epoxy coat in mt Clemens. They didn't mention the clear coat. It stained easily and after building my jeep it was not very pretty but it held up. Once my new garage is up this year I'm going to re do it since I won't be wrenching in there anymore.

This is what my dad did for his shop. The price of epoxy would have been outrageous for a 9,000 sq ft shop. It saw a lot of abuse with sliding equipment around, driving the forklift on it, and moving lifts of wood. The only spot it deteriorated was where we parked the box truck, mainly from the salt brime from the roads that dripped off in the winter.

I used Rustolem oil base brand from Menard's and didn't put clear on the first half of the floor I did. A year later I did the other half and clear coated both sides. I like the clear coat and it cleans up so much better. I wrench in my building and it's holding up well. I can tell you it doesn't like the torch splatter at all!

I used u coat it on my new floor blue with tan fleck and their clear topcoat. The topcoat takes all the abuse and I can just hit the floor with a 120 grit and apply more at any time. 6 years I've had it and love it. My 24x24 cost me $550 to do it myself. Money well spent

I did not use the clear coat and am very happy with my floor. I did however apply the epoxy over fresh poured concrete, there were no stains at all, so its held up through some serious jeep projects. The only place that's jacked is where I cut metal close to the floor and a piece of real heavy metal gouged the floor. Its held up through brake fluid, a carb cleaner fire on the floor, some welding and a lot of mud and oil on the floor. Ive had the floor 4 yrs now.

Only thing i know is if you ride a bicycle drunk in the rain and pull into a garage with an epoxy floor, you will go down fast and hard, and your friends behind you will laugh for a split second before they follow suit. Yes thats a run-on...

:sonicjay::sonicjay::sonicjay: Thanks..

I scrubbed the garage yesterday with two rounds of TSP after two rounds with a heavy degreaser. Did the "water drop test" yesteday and it is very porous.

I have some rust marks where I had some heavy pieces of steel laying down, and I can't remove the marks. Other than that, the floor came out very nice.

I'm going to go rent a diamond buffer after work to do the majority of the garage and I'm going to use muratic acid around the edges and on the steps.

Looks like I will be putting down a clear coat with anti-slip additive..

We just had a bunch of floors here at work (Medium Density Fibreboard manufacturing Plant) done with Aquapon 35... Seems like it is tough shit! We were using a hand operator 2500lb forklift on it with-in 2 days and it has yet to mark it. We had some outside contractors ($5/hr) flunkies painting it on with rollers, and I'm fairly certain they weren't following all the prep steps as they should and it turned out really good. I will update as time goes on...
