Was about to buy a my first dmax friday. Last saturday i talk to the dealer and we came up with an agreement on the truck. He was going to take 1000.00 cash and a s-10 i have on trade. (I left s-10) and i was going to finance the rest. Monday the loan was approved and because i am out of town on work i was going to come get it on friday and sign all the papers.
WELLLL...today he called and said there had been an oops. Supposedly he went to an auction and left someone in charge of the lot and he sold my truck. Wrote a check, transfered plate and title...gone. The owner said it was a guy that was interested in it before and cane in and said he was ready to pick up the green truck. The guy covering thought it was me.
Owner says to give him 2 weeks to find him a truck and he'll sell it to me at his price. Think i should wait? IDK...I call Bull Shit
get your shit back, go back to the lot a week later and the same truck will be there. bullshit scam to make you buy something you don't want. car dealers are garbage, treat them as such.
This is a small town mom and pop shop....generally one worker (the owner). I really have never heard a bad thing about him. I think he knows that word of mouth travels fast and if he is going around making bad deals then it's going to get around.
Similar happened to a friend of mine. Found a WK at a GMC dealer, was interested in it and was going to jump on it. Basically had made up her mind on that car. Was gone by that Friday. The dealer offered to pick up another WK (same package and options) at auction and sell it to her for the same price. Sales rep said they probably would make no more than $100 - $200 for themselves.
Yeah i got it in writing...but not much i can do. i'll be in town tomorrow and i'll get the money and my truck back. I never gave him the title for my truck
Hell, You're only out a little time.
Mistakes can happen (or could be BS)
See what they come up with, you might actually get a nice deal.
I wouldn't burn the bridge just yet.
similar thing happened to me and they got me a similar truck in two days and it had a few more options but they sold it to me for the same price so i thought that was pretty cool.
There are a lot of good deals out there. Just see what they come up with and keep your eyes open. You will probaly end up with a better deal in the end.
