Unfortunately we can’t go into detail, but as of today the Dave and Chuck “the Freak” show is no longer a part of the 89X line up.
We greatly enjoyed our time at 89X for over a decade, made some great friends, and are so thankful we got to be a part of your lives every morning.
We have the best listeners in the world, and you guys entertained us as much as we entertained you.
Stay in touch with us here on our facebook page, or at

Of Drew and Mike I like Drew. I cannot fucking stand Mike. When Mike was absent for a while that was when Drew and Mike was the best. When Drew was gone and it was only Mike I switched to Dave and Chuck the Freak.
I agree with liking Drew better, and I haven't listened in years, but if I remember right, wasn't Drew from Chicago, and I seemed to get the impression he didn't plan to stay in Detroit.

Yes, there are times, when you want to not feel detached from the rest of the world, you want to actually hear the advertisements from local establishments talking about certain drink specials, or you want to hear the update on people at a specific event near your house where the radio station is broadcasting live, or what the weather is expected to be, or what the current news is, or whatever.

Sure, all of those things are available at the click of a mouse or swipe of a touch screen phone, but sometimes, people don't want to be all:

"I'm clarkston cracker and I like to pretend I am so ahead of the times and trendy that I only listen to blah blah blah commercial free radio and I have my phone synced to my windsheild heads up display to provide me with full fox news headlines, weather reports, local sports, as well as local drink specials updates, not to mention my amazon clicker with the deals of the day...oh, and bitcoin."

Yes, I listen to normal radio on my 10 minute drive to and from work.

The only other place I listen to the radio is in my garage, and I see no need to bother upgrading there since it's just background noise.

I have used Pandora streaming at work a few times and I find it sucks. It seems like public domain radio. Once in a while I'm in a vehicle with XM or Sirius and they suck too. XM used to have stations that I enjoyed, but after Sirius bought them they axed them.

I listen to the radio for 4+ hours almost everynight in the garage. I have to change the station every 45 minutes or so to reduce the chances of hearing the same song over an over. It usually ends up on 97.1....

Glad to hear Drew and Mike are gone. I can't stand them.

Sometimes I actually like to hear people talk (as opposed to Pandora). I must be weird.

THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!!!

I hate hearing that anyone will loose their jobs but Ive said this many times, Drew and Mike needed to go just like how the WRIF let go Arther P. a few years back. They are old and out dated just like the WRIF's music selection. For the only rock station in the metro area, they sound more like a classic rock station. WEEEE! more Zeplin and Beatles talk!!!

The WRIF's music selection was relevant 20 years ago. It doesn't seem like they have really changed with the times. While station surfing I'll stop at the WRIF and 7/10 its something we all would consider classic rock, 2/10 its a song from the 90's, and 1/10 its something new.

That whole station needs a make over. Maybe that is what they are going for.
