Looking at putting some "aggressive" road tires on the tow rig. I'm looking at roughly $1350 for the BFG's installed and $1470 for the Duratracs installed, $1450 for the Toyo's
Looks like people say the Duratracs have a tendency to wear out quick, especially at highway speeds. They are quiet when they are new, but are very loud as they age.
People claim the BFG's suck in rain, suck in snow, but are quiet and wear great.
Everybody likes the toyos, but the looks are "pussyish". I guess..
I see you already went with the toyos, which i was going to recommend. I loved the duratracs on my 10 2500hd in the snow but they wore quickly. I put on toyos after i lifted it and they were great tires i thought. I have 37 bfg's on the 11 2500hd and not that impressed, i would rather have the toyos back.
I just put a set of duratracs on my f250, and couldnt be happier. 285/75/16s, ordered them from discount tire direct. They are offering 160 bucks back on them until the 4th I believe. They totaled out to right around 750 for four of them shipped to the house. As far as highway wear, I cant comment. I drove down to waterford last weekend, and had no complaints cruising 80 the whole way. They didnt take too much weight, I believe one took 1/2 oz on one side, and zero on the other. The most was 2.25, and 1.75. I've got a few friends who snow plow with them and swear by them.
I bought my set a few days after my last post in this thread. The Toyo Open Country AT/2's have been awesome! They ride and seem soft but have been wearing like iron.
Goodyear silent armors. The ones that are one step milder than the duratracs. 50,000 mile warranty. The dealer (who I've known personally for quite some tine) told me 75,000 is entirely within reasonable reach.
They aren't a mud tire. But they work great on mild mud, carrying a load, and rocky mountain logging roads on the east coast. Im about 10k in and very happy.
I loved my duratraks. I will be ordering a new set for my duramax here this week. I got About 45k on my last set on my 24v cummins. Still had about 1/4 inch left. The truck ran pretty good numbers and pulled and plowed alot with it. I really liked them. Plowed in 2wd mostly with the last set. Will relay back once the new set is installed
I has those on my 1/2 ton. I liked them but don't want them again.
I was leaning toward the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 this time. Lots of positive reviews on them on the dmax forums and from people I personally know with them. Cheap too.
I have Cooper Discoverer ATP's and I am happy so far. Not the info you wanted, but just putting it out there. I think I was around $1030 installed out the door with certificates. They have a 55,000 mile warranty IIRC.
cooper discoverer h/t on the dually (235/85/16) and I love them. They haven't given me a lick of trouble, I did have a fair amount of weight in the back for winter though :teehee:
Check out the falken rocky mountain at's. Have had them on a ranger, 2500hd and a ram 2500 hemi, work great in snow and rain along with long life and a good price point. About to get another set for my 2010 f150.
My duratracs are going this week. Ill be getting a set of toyos... I'm quite fond of the 65k warrenty.
