i have a 98 1/2 ton chevy ext cab short box 4x4 all stock with 265, my problem is that the front rotors keep warping every 6000 to 8000 miles. i dont stop hard or pull trailers offten, and have good quality pads and rotors already. any one know what i should do? would it be worth spending alot of money on break parts like drilled and slotted rotors. i do know these trucks are known for this problem, so theres gotta be a solition. thanks for any advice.

I agree there is another problem, I have owned 5 of those trucks and personally put between 100-150k miles on each one and never warped a rotor.

Is one side getting hotter during normal driving?

My Jeep had an issue with the rubber lines swelling that caused the calipers to not release.

Are you torquing the lugnuts to 100 ft/lbs ( may be 120 for the trucks, not sure) I know chrysler had a bulletin about rotors warping due to uneven torquing of lugnuts. The alloy wheels would distort and cause uneven pressure on the rotor causing it warp. Also on the Chevy trucks I may actually be your rear drums that are warping or going out of round. My buddy had it happen on his 97. After a couple trips to the dealership and about 3 sets of pads and rotors on the front it was determined the rear drums were the culprit, repaced them and the shoes, problem solved.:thumb:

I hope this helps

the calipers are not hanging up already went through that, and the rear breaks are tight i keep them adjusted trying to keep as much stress off the front as i could but that did not seem to help

the rear are drums and i am prett sure they are not out of round

impropper torque on the lugs could be but i havent had any trouble with any of the other cars i have worked on but i will try re torquing them
