So yesterday the UPS showed up so I made myself some double shear brackets and installed these.

Today I was bored and had some metal lying around so I got out; 1.5" .095 DOM, the torch, a brake rotor, a big freaking hammer, a vice and a hacksaw and built this. I’m happy about how it turned out. I wanted something basic and light weight. I might ad a cross brace in it later, I’m not sure. I had some left over latex black paint from a darkroom project so I got out the roller and painted it black. I think it turned out pretty good.

I like both, but right now i prefer the rzr. There are thousands of miles of atv trails in MI a rzr is allowed to use, but full size rigs are not allowed on. Going fast through trails and over woop sections there is no comparison between a jeep and rzr. Like i said, i like both, but i'm on a rzr kick right now. :brilliant

Those harnesses are a huge improvement, the stock belts are a joke. I went with the DFR padded 3" 4-points on mine, but added a 5th point anti-sub belt after seeing what happened to my girlfriend when she rolled the RZR at 60mph.

Oh, and for those of you who don't understand the side x side thing...go rent one for a day, you will understand. I'm on my second and have been debating on upgrading again (rzr xp), they are more fun than you could imagine. As far as capability, they will do anything a stock jeep will off road. Just like jeeps, once you start modifying, you can tailor them to your type/style of wheeling and make them much more capable.

That's exactly what I assume and exactly why I've made it a point NOT to drive one....If I did my savings account would be in (more) trouble. They're probably ridiculously fun but sure as hell aren't cheap. I debated about getting one rather than building the current Jeep project but the Jeep won, mostly because I can drive it on the street, take it on road trips, etc, but at the same time the side by side would probably be more fun for romping in yards, woods, trails, bonfires, and more useful for yard work and snow plowing. Hopefully my money tree finally sprouts this year and I can just have both!:sonicjay:

I like the design on the bumper. A little more understated than the aftermarket ones I've seen. Are you planning a winch mount in the future?

My take on the side by side craze (not that anyone cares) is that it's like the utility quad craze, these can serve multiple purposes and do all of them well. Plus they are a riot to drive! And no, unfortunately, I don't own one.

I like the harness up grade good call on that, as for the bumper, hey have fun with it man. I cant wait till i pick up my rhino, so i can start building a 686 for it and drop crazy money and build it to do the family thing.
