Wrong approach. The question is what is your long term goal for tire size and type of wheeling? What about the 44/9 interests you? What about the 30 don't you like? The joint size of your 30 and a 44 are the same. If you are not going above a 35" tire, going to a 60 is not worth the time, money and you will have a heavy low dragger. How much money do you want to drop into it?

Personally, if you decide to go with a 60, I would still build the 9". The 9" has about as much versatility as you can want, I've been very happy with my setup.

If you are going to swap for sure keep the 9" nothing stronger than this when you take in the weight compared to a 14 bolt or 60. A 9" has 3 pinion teeth that are in contact with the ring gear. Most all others only have 2. And on top of that the aftermarket world for a 9" well you know whats out there. We just bulit a 9" with 44 knuckles for my friends jeep. Now he has a 9/9 combo great strength and less weight than a 44 or 60.
