I have started this build a long time ago, and it is taking way too long to finish. I am aiming to have it completely finished before the end of January.
Here is what I'm running.

1987 Toyota Pickup
22R from an 84, running 'pane, headman header, deleted ALL emissions and computers.
W56 trans from an 84
Marlin Crawler doubler 2.28 gears in both
84 front axle, 4.10's, lock right, Dirty 30's, Hi Steer, trussed and blingin.
87 rear axle, welded spiders, 4.10's.
cut frame 6" behind cab
All Pro rear springs for a 98 taco(going up front)
Trail-Gear t-case crossmember.
35" BFG KM2's
15" Trail Ready Beadlocks
T Max 9000 winch
85:1 crawl ratio
I also recieved some 5 points for christmas so now we will roll safely.

Here's the front axle ready to go in.

Header

Safety First!!!

Yes its a 61 and yes it can be geared low..yes you can use dana 60 ring gear parts..yes its the same spline axles as a 60..has slightly larger axle tubes also.

A 14 bolt could be set up for the same price, or slightly cheaper than a 60. Just watch this video http://www.powerblocktv.com/episodes/XT2013-01. Then set up your axle lengths to a stock 60 width (or a combination of different stock axles), so you can run off the shelf shafts and be on your way.

These will let run anything from 30 to 40 spline shafts.

But for a toy I'd check out a 609 for ground clearance and weight savings.

yeah I have an old version. It's great not having to worry about wasting tubing at $3/ft. The new version is sweet the interface has changed some but they added a bunch of new features.

replaced the alternator, and in turn chased down a corroded fuse for the ignition circuit. 4wp said the battery ships out within the next 24 hours. then I'll be taking it for a shake down run!

got some lights mounted. all new charging circuit, new muffler, new battery, added some bracing. shake down run was great! it hasn't ran this well in awhile.

ready for some night wheeling!
