i have a 1999 F350, 7.3, 6-Speed. ive been having problems with shifting after i drive awhile. i took a trip up to south bend last weekend and by the time i got home from about 3 hour round trip i was having problems gettng the truck in and out of gear at a stop, but when im driving it shifts normal.....ive been told its my clutch going out? or does it just need re-bled? is it getting to hot? i just chaged the fluid with mobil 1 full synthetic atf. that made a little difference on shifting from a stop. but when i get into it in the morning it shifts like thers no problem making me think its the clutch and not the trans. becaue syncros will cause the trans to shift poorly no matter the temperature.... also my petal is to the floor.. the trans and clutch was replaced around 80,000 miles ago...

this is my first time owning a manual truck and im not sure how to re-bead the system. so if anyone has any tips or advise please let me know :thumb:

sounds to me like you have a master or slave cylinder going bad. when you push the clutch to the floor is there resistance on the pedal the whole way or is it very easy to push till you get to the very bottom? another thing to verify the problem is to put it in 1st gear with the truck not running, hold the clutch to the floor and start it. if the truck tries to move then i would say the clutch is not being released all the way. either way this is probably a hydraulic problem.

what exactly is happening when you try and put it in gear? grinds or just won't go in unless you force it? this could also be sign of a bad pilot bearing if it wasn't replaced when the clutch was put in.

Also, there is a plastic bushing that goes on the end of the clutch linkage on the pedal end. If that bushing is gone, you are losing some travel, and it can lead to wear elsewhere. About $8 at your dealer for the part.

Slave and master, I'll agree. Pull the seal lip out and check to see if there is fluid in the bore. If there is, there's your issue.

A bad/gone pilot bearing can also cause this problem. I had a cracked clutch hub disc that warped when the clutch was pushed in, and that was my issue. The master and slave were good, the clutch disc and the pilot bearing were bad, causing my issue. Check things out before you throw money at it. Truck parts ain't cheap :thumb:

Do you want to make me one?

I keep crushing the janky plastic ones.

I'll pay a nominal fee of course.
