basic anti-wrap question (bushing vs joint)

Next on my list is an anti-wrap bar. My question is I had always planned on using spring bushings for my shackle on the anti-wrap bar. I am afraid that my axle will flex too much that it will bind the shackle and maybe end up breaking the shackle bolts. I tried to show in the picture how the axle binding would bind the chackle bolts.

So my option is- put a leaf spring busing on joint 2 and a tractor joint (heim style) on joint 1. That way side flex on the axle can be translated through the heim joint and not bind up.

opinions? The heim wouldn't be expensive, I'm just thinking a 3 mount tractor style joint.

I run leaf spring bushings in my 4 link on my cruiser. It will see way more torque then your trac bar would. The bushings hold up pretty well for me.

Just be sure to put the axle more to the center and it will not have to travel or twist as much. remember K.I.S.S

Bones, Killer B fab'd a bad ass one for me... With all the rear flex, I was snapping rear yoke straps, and u-joints EVERY SINGLE TIME I flexed the rear out..

Ever since Bill made that for me, it eliminated almost all axle wrap, and I never broke anything again..

YOU WANT IT CENTERED ON THE AXLE!

I can take pictures of the setup, and I actually have the bushings, the skid plate with mount, and the bar itself all sitting in my barn.. Since I'm going 4-link, this bar serves no purpose to me

brimy- you use bushings on both ends?

CC-pic please, by noon friday lol. I assume you have bushings on both ends too?

the center of my rig is starting to get really "busy" but we'll see.

I built my 4- link with spring bushings..... Ton of flex, no noise, no joint to wear out. I'm with monkey, by the time you fab up a traction bar right your 1/2 way to a 4-lnk.

On the the other side, I've seen a traction bar fabbed up as you thought with the shackle/buching/ joint and it's held up for AGES and flexes great still w/ alomost no axle wrap.

Personally i'd link it.

Yup, x2 for links..

Its not too tough, and done right, you'll have other benefits as well.

I'll be linking the rear on the toyota in the spring. 4 link triangulated uppers and lowers, bushings at all ends. Hopefully is stiff enough to not wander too much..
