Workers at a Chrysler plant in Michigan have reportedly been caught on video smoking and drinking during lunch breaks.

Just ten months after revealing how some workers at the Chrysler Jefferson North Plant in Detroit spent their lunch hour drinking beer, another investigation by MyFoxDetroit.com found more of the same at Chrysler's Trenton Engine Plant in Trenton, Mich.

At least two workers told the station's investigative reporter they do not want to work with people who have been abusing drugs or alcohol prior to returning to work.

"It's dangerous," one employee reportedly said.

The latest video shows workers roughly a mile from the plant, but just steps away from a:finger: United Auto Workers :finger:hall.

In a statement to MyFoxDetroit.com, Chrysler said the conduct captured on tape was "unacceptable" and the workers would be suspended indefinitely without pay once they are identified.

"I just want to say I am both hurt and angered over what your cameras captured," said Scott Garberding, senior vice president of manufacturing.

"Again, we have Chrysler workers in a compromised position, without regard for the impact of their actions, the reputation of their coworkers, the plant, of the company, not to mention their own reputation and that of their families. As a company, in the last two years we've come too far and made way too much progress to let the bad actions of a few put a shadow on the rest of the employees," Garberding said.

Hell when I went to high school in Lansing, we would go down to the party store for lunch and the GM guys would be in the parking lot drinking 40's.Same shit now everybody has cameras.

Used to work for Rail Link Switching as a Locomotive tech, the track crew serviced GM's tracks from time to time. I would go in to drop off, set up equipment.

The parties that would go on 3rd shift were amazing, nothing was out of line it was all on the table blow weed pills booze hookers you name it grilling and parting all night long

Things have mellowed out considerably in a lot of the plants the last 20 years but I know a lot of the old timers that still go to work to get wasted sell drugs and lighten generous motors of what ever they can sell on E bay.

It's a crazy fucked up environment to work around, the entitlement attitude of these guys was amazing they were all like fuck the world whatcha gonna do fire me :finger: and then wonder why their world crumbled around them

I didn't click the link assuming the quote was the article but I didn't see where it said they were drunk. Technically, I am allowed to drink on my lunch and everybody here but me smokes all the time at work. As an employee we are allowed to have a BAC of no more than .02% and can still work without getting in trouble. We are not allowed to drink on the property but there are a couple bars not too far from here.

If they weren't drunk or high, whats the problem?

I saw this daily at the Ford Rouge plant. Mostly the old timers on the off shifts. A lot of them would be hammered by the end of the shift.
I don't have "a" beer during work because you can smell one beer, and it just looks bad.
If I didn't have to deal with customers I would consider having one at lunch though.

Part of me wants to say to hell with it, whatever they do on break has nothing to do with the job, unless it's actually affecting their work.

Then again, they had to have saw the news the first time around or read the inter-company memos. If they still had the balls to go out and get loaded up then they deserve to be fired. Open the jobs up for some other slack-ass who wants the easiest money you could ever earn.

Why bother drinking? It seems like if you actually worked it would be a buzz kill anyway.

There was a thread about this a while back.

I was sitting at "the Mustang Inn" (net shirted barmaids) after work one evening and started talking to a UAW electrician who was taking a long liquid lunch. He was bitching about his overtime being cut, etc...... And how he has made 180k for years. This year he will barely make 100k.

Awwwwww poor baby!

Not defending any of these guys but I would like to state for the record that Fox 2 reported them as "Chrysler" workers and most of them were not. With the exception of 2 of them they were all contract workers making between $10-15 per hour and not that the amount of $ makes a difference either, just wanted to state that most of them were not UAW 372 workers.
