Bought a used Cadi CTS (I know, BALLER!) 2005 WITH 55000 Miles. Drove it 1000 + miles it was down almost 3 quarts of oil. Took it back to the dealer, they want to do an "oil consumption test". They say that GM says 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles is acceptable (I think). Anyway it is burning at least 2 quarts every 1000 miles. No leaks, doesnt smoke at start up and havent seen it smoke at all. Must be burning oil at speed or something. Anyway, am I screwed or what? They say they will take care of it but they havent told me what they are gonna do about it. I need to look thru my paper work, but they offered some bs short term warranty. Fudge.

Thats some good reading. I will need to finish it after I leave this bar. Looks like some people got new motors. What a POS. Try to buy a nice american made car and this is what happens. Hell, no one down here gives two shits about buying american. I should have bought a Honda.

At 55000 miles it should not be using any oil IMO.
I don't know the specifics of GM's caddy line, but many cars have 'normal oil consumption' levels established lately, especially with direct injection and/or forced induction (like on my GLI)

even my old '02 BMW 330CI had a specified oil consumption interval mentioned in the factory owner's manual. (I don't recall specifically what it was, I just got in the habit of checking the oil every or at worst every other fill up)

At the Mint 400 this past weekend, I heard a guy in the crowd talking about trick truck motors, he said that all the race motors "use" oil thats why they carry 8 quarts with them.....:sonicjay: so sounds like you just got a race motor...:sonicjay:

So I go out and check it just now. They put an extra quart in it for the "oil consumption test". I am getting pissed. It is at least a quart above the last hole and grid window on the dip stick.
