Blame Obama, insanity, brain damage... for my next great idea, I bought an ambulance. Now you ask why? Because i say! You shake your head in disaprovement. Do I have an autorama TJ to finish building? Yes and that is my main priority once i buy a house, this is a backburner mental obsession. As a simple justification i have always liked expedition vehicles. Custom vans, offroad trailers and rv's... something with go anywhere capabilities and comfort. I looked into custom vans and 4wd campers are knew they wernt for me as they cost more then what i want to pay for my own house. So the only alternative left is build something   :fish:

On pirate, i ran across people converting ford e vans to 4x4 and it clicked thats what i want. I did look around for an all ready coverted van (quigley) but couldnt find anything. At this time i ran into this and feel in lust!
yes, that is a 4x4 ambulance. Search Ujoint offroad and six13 metal works for more info. That is when i decided i want an Ambalamps! After 1 week of searching i found myself in Andover Ohio buying this.

Its an 05 Ford E450, 170k miles with 40K on a new 6.0 diesel (yes its a dreaded 6 leaker). Why you ask? Cause i basically stole it! Nothing is wrong with it, just the city that owned it was going private so the firehall basically gave this and 2 others away.

This is going to be an epic camping machine, but in reality it won't be much more useful than Stans tent with an A/C unit tapped up to it. I think I will get a $500. pop up and throw some 4d's under it.

I sure look forward to seeing how the wambulance turns out though......

10.5 will be ran in a single wheel application. I believe it has a Dana 80 currently and that is 3" narrower then a 10.5. Even still most people still run a spacer.

Hes still a *** no matter what his last name is.

Can we get this thread moved to the pub? I am done giving you a hard time Andy. Any updates / pics?
None as of today due to Rain

In all seriousness, stop. Just stop. Don't buy ANY more parts or make any hard plans for this. Focus on the house situation, get that taken care of, then once that is complete(ie you officially own and live in the place, not waiting on a bank or in the process of closings, I'm talking DONE), THEN finish up the more important projects if at all possible, all the while brainstorming the best routes to take on this one. Don't spend a single dime on this thing yet, don't loosen a single bolt, don't grind a bracket. Store it and brainstorm, nothing more. This will allow you to prioritize money(the house will be #1), then prioritize projects(the house will be #1), then decide what you really want. You know me, know my projects and history, and know that my situation was a much milder, considerably less crazy version of yours, and I'm telling you what I learned through the process of wasting lots of time and money. Take care of the house thing and leave this the fuck alone. Not tinker, not nothing. The house will help you to simplify and prioritize. Focus 100% on getting the house right now, then focus on getting the house and garage/barn where you want it to be productive. By then you'll have an idea how much money and time you'll realistically have left for the toys and projects and can prioritize accordingly. Anything now will just be setting you back further from where you need and want to be. Pretend you don't even own this thing.

Buying when the right price comes my way is always how I've done things and will never stop. Still main focus is a house purchase and learning my new job. In all honesty I have very little invested in everything.
