A.J., you know that means you wil get lower fuel milage dont you? that means you will be buying more gas, which sends money to the Arab countries...you are the cause for the way the economy is, I think you should leave the country now.

Some one seriously school me on this!I was obviously told wrong on how this whole thing works. What should I get the heads milled to? As of right now the car ran better on mid grade than it did on regular.
AJ, you need to do SOME research before pulling a number out of your ass and expecting to get that type of power from just shaving the heads.
To make that kind of power you need a combination of parts as stated above. Pistons are needed to net the type of compression you want in combination with shaving the heads....also different thickness head gaskets. You'd have to have work done to the heads so they flow better (port and polish), bigger valves, etc... and also the type of cam.
Just for reference, my mopar 360 has flat top pistons, I'm somewhere around 10:1 compression, heads are port and polished, and i have a mild cam.... I'm NOWHERE near 450hp. I'd be lucky to have 300hp at the crank.
Also what engine is this? Please tell me its not the 305.....
Oh and if you shave the heads to much, you'll have to get your intake shaved down as well, otherwise it will not fit.
Run 23:1 compression. There is a fuel out there that is so good it is more expensive than premium gasoline and it loves this compression ratio. This fuel is so good some faggety actor named Vin uses it for his last name.
Honestly, dump those heads. I would not waste any money on those castings. By the time you spend money doing work to those, you can get a much better new assembled casting for probably the same price.
I got an idea... fuck off.Go stuff your boy friends cock in your mouth. My mom works all the time to take car of my little sisters. My parents are divorced. Mom pays house paymnet and everything by her self. So fuck you.
all that power and what kind of trans are you going to run??? what rear end??? gear??? stall?? how are you going to get it to hook up??? them cars like to twist!
This is a funny Read. You do not know how to build or Tune and Engine. Save your money. Just have the heads redone and only Milled if they need to be. If you have them Milled you will never get the car to run right.
you should probably buy a 426 Hemi, and put that into your transam, after you highlight your mullet and score a lifetime of Scorpions and Winger tapes.
Also required is a jean jacket and mirrored aviators.
Like I said, I wouldn't use any stock casting unless it was a vortec style head. You can absolutely run vortec heads with a carb/standard intake. A lot of people do so. In fact, one of the guys in our group runs a vortec headed 383.
So how bad is the car twisted? I have a friend with an 89 with a 355 in it. You can see where the car twist from the power. He had Subframe connectors on his car. Anyone who is thinking of building fbodys would put those in. If your car had all the things done to it has they told you, That car would have Cracks all over it.
The car is not twisted at all and all the body lines and gaps are perfect. It does twist a bit. About half way down the track the front passenger tire lifts off the ground and stays until you let off.
the smaller the CC the more compression you'll get.
The stock rear end is a 10bolt? If so say bye bye!!
And I'll laugh when you blow your shit if you spray Nitrous. You can't just slap heads on and call it good... for one you'll need the correct type of pistons that will be able to handle the Nitrous. If your tuning the carb. you'll probably blow yourself up as you'll hit it while its lean.
for someone with no experience with what they are doing, your best to buy a car thats already built with what you want, or to buy an engine already built.
The car has the Ws6 Suspension which isnt as hard on the body and drivetrain when you pull holeshots and such. I know how to drive the car and how to pull holeshots. Kinda have to ease of the clutch slowly to keep the pressure on the gears and such and then let it go and hold the trottle down. Also, the NOS was a joke. Even though I would be fine with a 100 shot. I believe teh pistons are forged along witht he rods. I wouldnt chance it though.

I have this on video! If I knew how to put a cassette on the computer I would prove it. Also, when A speed shop tells me I am running about 330 horse. I would say I hvae at least 310 or 300 to the wheels.

id spend some time on motownmuscle.com they will have oodles more info than most people here.. just dont make the same mistake i did with my 1st engine build. and thats going into the summit cat. and buying all the parts that are listed for your make and model engine.. mine worked out good but if i had done the research and bought parts that were meant for each other it wouldve been a shit ton better !
