Yeah, not much to do there...Especially with the gubmint shut down.. The parks up there, lumbermans monument etc.. are closed. I have a place near there and am up almost every weekend, but I am an old man and usually chill, lol. There is a good mexican restaraunt over in footesite (about 6 miles west on river rd) called desi's. I think my daughter is bringing up a friend and we may go there for dinner Saturday. Lots of forest service rds to explore, just stay on the rds and you'll be o.k. Kevin
This weekend should be good for salmon fishing, either at the highbanks, boyscout camp, or the blockhouse by the dam. There are some fun 4x4 spots in the area.
My wife and I went to the Au Sable Inn on the south end of downtown on Labor Day weekend and loved it. Good beer selection. I had fried perch and she had pulled pork and both were fantastic. The waffle fries were damn good too.
Au Sable river is always fun, but probably a little chilly for that. River Rd is a nice drive, lots of forest service roads and two tracks to explore, plenty of camping, etc.
Going to try wiltse tomorrow. Desi's taco place was very good!
