New project. 1986 cj7 on 42 inch pit bulls on h1 with trailworthy beadlocks. Front 60, rear 14 bolt, 4.89 or 5.13 confused on gearing until I get covers off myself. Full hydro steer. 350 chevy on propane, 400 turbo with a 205 transfercase.
Traded to get more into rock playing. Very good foundation, but everything is going to be tore down and redone. Tube work is awesome. Axles done right, but tub is shot, wiring waiting to let the smoke and fire out of it and brake lines a mess. Got it running and fixed I think I counted 12 leaking points. New correct single wheel hubs. Bought a solid yj tub with steel cj fenders that I will cut and wedge to fit the tubes. Cut off front stinger (not my thing) and had Tab make up a awesome frontend along with rear bumper and quarter tubes. Any bending needed look him up.
I am now working on getting the new tub ready for paint and line X this spring. Thinking of leaving it together until paint is done and just swapping.
Will get pics of new rear tube soon.

Actually they slide out with tailgate down. Or in the current status, where the tailgate was. I left the middle of the basket open for easier access to the straps but still able to tie stuff into basket.
Had to change some things on where the winch solenoid box goes, it still didnt fit in your bumper, that thing is HUGE-tempting to trade it for a smaller winch.

Is spring here?
I took advantage of the first warm day and laid some primer. Mounted cj tailgate. Blocking next. Thinking of going with a FLAT charcoal, black or even military green. Still up in the air. Thinking a black grill and stripe down the side.
My $0.02...don't go with the olive drab. It's pretty played-out. Here are a couple pretty nice flat black examples, though.

Nice progress on the project! :thumb:

Got propane??

Just put in a wet line onto my house pig. Filled a tank, this thing is cool. I can fill the jeep tanks, camper, grill, anything, just like going up to the station. Best part 1.75/gal right now. Not sure where I will be at this next year, but the pig should get me to Dec.

Painted

Finally painted.
Started Monday morning first thing, before wind picked up. Found out Flatz black is hard to lay but third coat I put on wet and came out great. I like clear tons better, you get away with more and can fix mistakes, this is what is layed is what you get, no sanding or wheeling out.
Ended up using the two part bedliner gray for inside and black for wheel wells. After laying gray it was just too light so I ended up misting it with the black for a speckled affect. Also did a mountain scene on the rockers with the black.
I guess now is to cut up the jeep and start on the frame and thinking gloss charcoal.

Springs?

Thanks guys!
Getting closer. On vacation this week and painting grill tomorrow. Hopefully that means together this week.
Springs, going to change out springs. I have the yj conversion shackle kit and wondering what is working for people.
I have a spring over and looking like 4 inches of lift.
I am sure link and coil is the way to go, but for now its going to be leafs.

Done? Is it ever?

Done to this point. Runs excellent, shifts great, not sure what I think of welded diffs but will give it a shot.
Still need a windshield, rear shocks and speakers.
Future plans, new leafs, and fix anything that doesn't work after maiden voyage.
Picture will come soon, just wont let me load them right now.
