Just went and looked at an 82 Century Sun Express 5000 tonight. Seems to be a decent boat. 23' cabin cruiser style boat with a 260HP 350 SBC Mercruiser.

Any opinions on Century boats? It would be our first endeavour into the boating field. He fired it up while we were there and it started right up and ran smooth with no ticks, knocks, etc. I didn't see any hull scratches or gouges. Any tips on what to look for in a used boat?

Also, what would insurance on something like this roughly cost? We are trying to figure out if it is something we can afford and enjoy.

Any other tips would be helpful as well since I may not know what to ask even. :sonicjay:

Got some quotes on insurance and I was very surprised about the rate..... .280/yr. I was expecting that a month since I was clueless. :sonicjay:

Now I gotta research some surveyors...One of the insurance quotes mentioned a survey as well. Any suggestions on that?

Just a FYI, boats aren't required to have insurance.
Being a first time boat owner, I think I will have insurance on it. :thumb:
