after my head conversion, I used the 1990 intake manifold for a few years , I

didn't run the coolant thru it because the coolant port leaked, then I finally got a clifford intake and I'm running the coolant thru it..

It seems that the engine is running cooler with this configuration.. I realize that aluminum is a great heat sink but didn't know it would make that big a difference... or could it be that the engine is getting a better mix of fuel and air....?

a little bit of both, but mostly the latter.

the intakes are water cooled to allow the engine to "warm up" faster. this makes it start and run (idle) better when cold (ie, winter) and lowers emissions quicker.

on the jeeps it was an emissions issue. a warmed-up engine runs leaner (less fuel) and results in lower emissions. the quicker you can do it, the bette.r
