willys had those. Used for various things. I have seen them used to drive a belt to run a rip saw for saw mills. There is a guy in town with an old willys pickup with a few different attachments for his pto's.
Um that is normal. They were primarily sold as tractors back then.
It's the HUGE front end loaders and Zamboni conversions that surprise me, these were only rated as 1/4 ton trucks remember. If you ever see a STOCK flatty, look at the frame - they are tiny. My early 5 frame under MY flatty is twice as heavy duty.
For instance this loader... who would have thought the damn thing would survive until 2008 with a contraption like this. (this is an EARLY 1945 jeep)
Yeah and my PTO still works! Looking for a brush hog and/or capstan winch some day. It's back home this winter new wiring harness and some brake and body work should get done before spring.
that is definitely the strangest flattie conversion I have ever seen.
