What do you carry?
What type/brand/material holster?
Where on your body do you carry?
How often and for how long do you carry?
What things do you like/dislike about your holsters/locations?

If your wife/girlfriend/sister/bootycall/female neighbor carries, I'd be even more interested to know the same things about her.

Getting ready to spend some money.

Thanks for the input!

If you'd rather not share your habits with the derelicts on here, but want to share with me, please feel free to PM.

My girlfriend carries a Springfield XD sub compact 9mm.

She does not always carry it but when she is going out or won't be home from work until later she carries it.

She uses a hip holster but it bugs her sometimes when she wants to wear a tighter shirt and can't carry and wear the shirt. I'm not positive of the brand or material , but it's not a rigid holster it's like cotton or something soft.

I carry a Springfield XD 45 ACP olive grab green.

I use an XD adjustable paddle holster on my hip. It is plastic and rotates for comfort.

If I have to lean to the side it can be uncomfortable but overall I love the gun and holster.

I carry a para ordinance wart hog .45.
I use bionchi leather holster
I carry high on my waist
I carry mainly when I travel.
some tips:
get a GOOD holster that sits high on the belt. this will keep the barrel of the gun from poking out the bottem of your shirt
keep in mind "love handles" + hip holsters= bad idea. carry in the small of your back if your sporting a muffin top.

I carry all the time I drive all day long in and out of a commercial vehicle so comfort is important. Depending on what I am doing I either carry a sub Glock .40 in a Galco rigged holster at right behind my hip. Or my Kimber full size .45 in the pants with t-shirt and open button down shirt or some times a tach vest. As stated above it is harder for the ladies that like to wear things tight (not complaining) but does make it harder to hid. JUST DO NOT shove it in your purse LOL as that is the first thing they steal. Want to see the pics of set-up that you end up with?:naughty:

I carry a glock 23 (.40 cal) in either a galco leather SOB holster or a kydex paddle holster. I had a Kel-tec p32 and carried that in a desantis nemisis holster in my back pocket.

Thank you, but I am not looking for a firearm. I already carry a Kimber .45 CDP Pro (3in) II. And I did fire A LOT of pistols before I purchased. I have an incredibly small hand, the Kimber fits in my hand, fires smoothly and was the calibur I was looking for. I wish it carried more rounds, but I am in love none the less.

What I am looking for is a preferred carry method and the perfect holster for me. I'm not afraid to spend money on a quality item, espcially if it's partnering to potentially save my life.

70% of the time I carry is in my office, while I sit in my chair for most of the day. In the fall/wintertime I wear a boot that comes up close to the knee and I think I will get some sort of top of boot holster. I generally wear slacks and a thin sweater to work, so carrying at the waist is really difficult and the top of the boot is a very close proximity to my hand whilst positiioned a my desk.

Otherwise, it seems that the SOB will be best for me and when I need to deep conceal I'll have something for my ankle.

When I was with my first wife I bought her a sig 232 in stainless and she carried it in a galco purse... or a IWB holster. For the guys on here you should check out crossbreed holster for a IWB holster.

Kahr PM9 in pocket holster, or IWB. This is the most comfortable for me.

I needed to pick up something extra though, because it was in for service. I got a Smith M&P9 sub-compact. Its a little bigger in length, and certainly wider. However, its got about double the capacity. I can carry it in my pocket, but its a little big/heavy for that. It'll be great in a IWB.

I seriously considered the Keltec PF9 and P32, but I just can't trust the Keltec brand. I think they've made huge improvements, and the price was right, but I opted for the smith.

I've never carried a gun in my life (outside of the military) and lived in and walked the streets of some pretty bad neighborhoods. Never had a problem I couldn't see coming and avoid (other than cops). HOWEVER, I do like guns and one day want to buy one, so this is interesting to read. I have no idea what most of you are talking about, but I'm interested in knowing more.

So after I take the gun safety courses and go out with someone who knows WTF they're doing, how much can I expect to spend on a nice handgun?

sig 226 in a waistband holster (small of back) alot of the time
Colt 1911 in a shoulder holster under a jacket (cooler weather, often times under leather jacket while riding the bike)
I also carry a Keltec P32 a lot of the time as a pocket gun, most of the time unless I'm out drinking (Read as: carrying a gun whilst intoxicated = illegal)

Couple others that I carry, but not as frequently as those above, those are the most comfortable for my frame and the ones I feel the most confident shooting (not that I am not confident with others, just that those are the ones I shoot the most)

My former/sometimes girlfriend carries a Glock 19 at 4-5. She likes IWB but complains about it interferes with her marvelously beautiful shapely hips.
She usually uses OWB strong side. I have never seen her carry in a purse.

I like a summer special for my 3" 1911. Lately I've been bouncing between a fobus paddle and a Safariland belt slide.
The belt slide holds the gun high and tight. It's comfortable sitting or driving and is quick to draw.

Armed? Always. You never know when you might run into someone that needs shooting

You say you carry at work and it made me think of something.
Can a company infringe on your right to carry and tell you that you cannot carry at work (if you did not tell them how would they know?)?
I understand that you cannot carry in certain buildings so those people I understand. But I'm talking regular retail, construction, office jobs, etc.

#29 · (Edited)
Yes. My company by laws say no fire arms on your person, in your car, or on the property. The laws also state by signing on with the company, you give up the rights to be searched on your person, your your work area, or your vehicle at any time with probable cause.

Office Job.

I laugh at people that say shit is comfortable to carry. No gun is comfortable, period. Some are more tolerable than others and that is the truth. And if you are carrying in a bullshit ankle holster or something like that, then just throw your shit away because it does you no good. The pistol you choose to carry for whatever reason you think you need to just needs to work and be available when needed. So your ultra high dollar shinny name brand pistol concealed in an area that is not easy accessible is worthless.

Thank you for your input. I agree that there are degrees of comfortable when it comes to carrying, which is exactly why I am asking these questions. I'm looking to see what people find MOST comfortable to carry.

I beg to differ. Carrying at the ankle is not bullshit. It's certainly not ideal, but I would rather have something than nothing at all. I think it's FAR better than carrying in my purse, which is the most likely to get stolen.

Do you agree that carrying at the top of my boot while seated would be accessible? Consider that the boot comes up to JUST below the knee. If not, where do you feel is most comfortable and accessible for sitting for long periods of time?

Regarding my ultra high dollar shiny name brand pistol: If you shot many MANY firearms and kept coming back to one that fit best in your freakishly small hand and felt just right when you fired it, would you choose not to purchase it because it cost you a few more of your jew dollars than you were looking to spend?

I carry a '62 East German Makarov, 9x18, in an Uncle Mike's inside the waistband holster that won't fit with my....um....body type, but it clips nicely along the seatbelt latch in my truck, so it stays there pretty much everyday. I have yet to find a holster I can carry on my person without being obvious, but I'm still looking.

G/F has a Ruger LCP .380 but doesn't carry it very often...I would just carry that in my pocket but ammo is stupidly hard to get for it.

a lot of carry guns don't have a safety other than internal so carrying them on a clip would not be a good idea. also the metal against the body is not comfortable and is sweaty.
I have a glock 26 with a IWB Don Hume holster
Kahr PM 45 OWB bionchi leather holster
I always carry one or the other. I prefer my Kahr but sometimes IWB is what will work best for the day.
