Our 12yr old German Shepard/Chow is not doing good. She has been throwing up all night, wont eat or really respond to us and her breathing is very labored. I have never had a dog pass. My only other dog was put to sleep when I was young. Im not sure how to handle this. If she does pass what are my options?

My wife is already a wreck. I am assuming my kids will be too. Not sure how I will be able to comfort 4 women.

very sorry to hear Silver Bullet...i'm up in grand blanc.
the vet was cross veterinary clinic off of hill road and us23 (i think exit 90)
but as i just saw on this thread someone explaining it is most likely just plaster of paris and they just stuck her paw in it to get the paw print
if you are gonna take time off, i'd just go to michael's or other craft store and get teh stuff and do it myself...put him in the garage tonight and you can get print yourself tomorrow morning..
just my .02
again, sorry to hear and good luck brother...

ps...there will never be another dog like yours, but get another one any way...every dog is different

get another dog asap! you feel bad for "replacing" your dog so soon (i know that is how i felt) but it will really help the wife and kids having a new cute puppy to pay attention to. when my last dog passed i had a new one the same day. being a bachelor that lived by myself it was too damn lonely without the pooch.

so sorry to hear about your puppy. I have my 4 girls here with me now and will have to admit i did not make it though this with dry eyes. My girls are everything to me and the gf and i'll do anything for them. Yours is in a better place now and without pain. Remember the good times. I second getting another new friend soon.

Yeah this sucks. I have a company coming to pick her up out of royal oak. 130 for thee cremation, pickup and clay print. Kids all pet her and said there good buys.....very sad w/ lots of tears. My 4 yr old Madison understands that she is gone but doesnt. She has hamstrrs that have died but this animal had a much larger attachment. I have a feeling its going to hit me the hardest in the next few days with all the questions that will develop, not looking over and seeing her in her spot every day, not tripping over her every morning when I wake up for work. Its hard to beleive shes gone. She been there through all the ups and downs, good and bads.

I appreciate everyones kind words and offers. There are some really good people on this site. I hope at some point I get the opportunity to meet all of you.

so sorry to hear silver, when we put down our last dog, wife wanted the pooch to be cremated, she asked for the ashes back because the vet said they just toss the ashes out on the farm for fertilizer, my wife went bizzerk after hearing that. the cremation centre does provide a small descrete black plastic sealed box and a medalion with the dogs name, and a place for a special noted that you can ingrave on.

both wife and I lasted 1 week no pets in the house, couldnt handle the quietness, and went to the bound and rescued a black lab and made a $$$ donation in our old dogs name.
