I have to give a BIG thanks to BeaverTown!! Thanks for all the help and letting be borrow the car.

John and I were working on replacing the rear U joint, which had been welded in place because of damaged ears. That was supposed to be the last u joint for that drive shaft, but Autozone sold me the wrong one :pissed: After we ground out the old joint the drive shaft wouldn't hold the clip, so it has to be welded in place. Tomorrow I’ll be driving back down to his place with my welder to finish the truck up. Then it’s on to the rest of the to-do list before Snofari.

Ok after and before SnoFari everything was crazy and its just now starting to get back to normal. Here is everything I did before SnoFari

Went from this

To this!!! I used this thread and it can be applied to any vehicle. Works a hell of a lot better than electrical tape.

Ok it’s been awhile since I’ve posted in here which I guess is a good thing. However some people know that my push button Tcase has been giving me some trouble. I lost 4 low at Snofari, got stuck in 4low at the mounds, and now I can’t even get the truck into gear...

So with today’s extremely nice weather I finally have enough motivation to swap and rebuild cases. The plan for today is to swap in my 231hd that I picked up for 75 bucks. Hopefully I can have the truck back together some time tonight or tomorrow so I can actually enjoy some of this nice weather!

I have give a big thanks to Snocross2xtremes for the ride back to his place from the Chili run, and all the help to get the truck back into 4hi which was good enough to get me home.

Pics to follow....

No its in yet :( I found out that I broke the snap ring that holds the main shaft in place for the second time. So I think its time for a sye. The problem with that is that requires a new drive shaft (which I needed). But I wont put a new drive shaft on with my S shaped springs so I don't kill it. So that's new springs too. Long story short is that I know where my tax money is going, but I'll have a more reliable rig from it so its not the end of the world. Its also going to make attending the blessing a bit of a time crunch.

Got the new springs on and while they seemed stiff in the bounce on the bumper test, they actually rode really smooth. Possibly the nicest lifted truck I've ever rode in! :woot:
And my drive line vibes are now gone to the pinion angle be back to where it should be.

Military wrap on both ends

The bottom half leaf is actually a "traction aid", basically a stiffer leaf to prevent axle wrap. Which was the death of the stockers.

Head down ass up stance right now. Hopefully it will settle out, if not I'll adjust the front up to match.

Which winch?

I have a chance to pick up either a smittybuilt xrc8 for $150 with one pull ever on it. Or a Warn 12k with a in cab remote and 125ft of cable on it for $300. Either one will be getting a new rope and fair lead, along with a good cleaning and grease change.

With the Smitty the cable and fair lead are in good enough shape to sell so I would be looking at 100 total.

The Warn is older than the smitty but nothing a coat of paint cant fix. It is slower than the smitty but it draws a lot less power. It is also weighs 42lbs more. The main problem is that it is too wide and I would have to cut down the drum. Which I'm willing to do if it would be worth it.

Which one would you pick up?

Well it looks like the smitty is going to win. It turns out I can grab a deal from the guy with the smitty who happens to have a zr2 winch specific mount, so its a no brainer. I'm picking the winch up monday, but I couldn't pass up this deal today so I got a new rope from Chetney.

However this rope came with no terminal end. Would a copper terminal crimped on the end work? Like this.
