I almost got the wife a used kel tec pf9 today but remembered the warranty don't follow the gun, but there was a nice sized taurus in a 380 that may fit the bill. I just like the idea of only looking for one type of ammo.
My wife does not like to shoot my pf9 at all. She loves shooting my PT92 but its pretty bulky if your thinking about a carry gun I wouldnt recommend it. I have had good luck with Taurus but I have heard some horror stories from others.
^^ This. Both my wife and daughter started out carrying a J-frame 38sp. They both rarely carried. They both chose to go to a .380 LCP. Although not the first choice for many, I would rather have them carry this than nothing at all.
My girlfriend shoots all .40. Mainly because I do so its one less cal to keep around. I wouldn't let anyone in my family carry a .380. A .22 is a better choice.
I shoot .45.
The .380 feels like a pea shooter to me.
I own and shoot a Mossberg 12 gague and a Taurus Millennium Pro P745.
I have about 200 rounds through my .45 and have NEVER had a problem with it.
It is accurate and has never failed to shoot. It is fairly light weight and comfortable in my hand. This will be my carry weapon.
I bought the wife a Bersa .380 because she liked it . Once we hit the range she didn't like the recoil and didn't want to shoot it. Handed her my Glock 17 and she was in love. She wanted something for around the house so size didn't matter as much.
I let the wife choose her own, 3 hrs later at Williams she chose a Kimber tac pro in 9mm. After that she wanted an ultra cdp in 9mm, valentines day present last year, she carries that now.
Wife carries an M&P9, or Smith 642 depending on what she is wearing. She shot lots of different pistols before she made her choice. She really likes the interchangeable backstrap on the M&P, and she picked out the JG edition with the fiber optic front and the breast cancer awareness ribbon engraved on the slide. (along with the pink grip!).
An S&W Sigma .40. I tried to steer her into an XD, but she liked the way it fit her hand and the sight picture. She uses one of the trigger guard mounted lasers.
Daughter has the 9 mm "slim" Taurus - she's tiny and it fit her hands best.
Mine still lives in a world of nothing but butterflies and rainbows and thinks guns are a waste of money. Nothing is real to her unless she sees it herself no matter what someone who knows what the hell they're talking about tells her.
Mine shoots my .40, 12 guage and 16 guage, but she prefers her lc.380. We looked at a few 9mm but she liked the lc's size and trigger pull the best. We're going to get her a tigger guard laser for eventually.
no wife, but previous gf's have liked shooting the bersa .380. reliable and cheap.
