Picked this up a week ago but havnt taken pics until today..
2000 Honda 400EX. bought off a guy on here (cant remember screen name) JMSDodge i think.. Anyway has race cut fenders.. nerf bars. and i think its an aftermarket exhaust not realy sure.. anyway its plenty fast for me (for now)
thats a real clean 400ex. I just sold my 2001 about 2 months ago (miss it a lot). It is the most reliable quad i have ever had. I don't think there has ever been a better wheelie machine than the 400ex. It looks like ZSK from michigandirtsligners old 400ex.
As far as the exhaust goes, the muffler is stock but the header looks after market. Sort of looks like a pro curcuit header but it's hard to say. Anyways have fun and always wear your helmet and boots.

DEFINATLY a wheelie machine.. Even when u dont want it to :sonicjay: .. it might be that dude's old one i beleive the guy i bought it off bought from that site....
it's not "blown up" per say just bottom end is fucked im preatty sure.. it wont crank on starter alone if i pull the side plug i have to stand on the ratched to get it turn
great machine, owned one for 2 years. The sparkplug is a PITA to get out, if you need the tool i have it still. I remember a sparkplug socket would not work because the walls are too thick on the socket.
Not a bad starter quad. My buddy had one but it was slow and it was piped and jeted. Looks clean I would build it while u got it out if not then u will down the road.
all reassembled minus controls waiting til i get a set of Grips so i know where to place the stuff .. and still need to order the new plastics.. And of course find a new bottom end for the motor
hey if your lookin for a motor my buddy has one from an '01. we swapped in a 450 motor and he wants to get rid of his. its a 440 big bore stage 2 cam. runs awesome cylinder base gasket leaks a little but those are easy to change. he also has a pro circuit slip on, rev box, also a huge aftermarket oil resevoir/cooler to keep the heat down. pm me if your interested and i'll give you his #.
I just sold a 400ex to CK here back in the winter time. It was a blast to ride, but things suck, so I had to get rid of it. Anyways, I seemed to have struck gold with some miracle combination when I had it. I raced a few 450r's, Predators, Raptors, and even a Banshee and if I couldn't beat them, it was a dead-even race at 100yds. Anyways, the combo was easy.
Wiseco "Superstock" 12:1 piston w/ the XR400 base gasket
Hotcams Stage 1 cam (I have a spare one of these sitting around, if you're interested)
Yoshimura full exhaust system ("Comp System")
White Brothers "***********" CDI box
K&N Filter with outerwears, open airbox
-1 tooth on the front sprocket
Might have the numbers way off, but I think it was jetted at 168 main, 54 pilot, and the c-clip moved down a notch.
That thing would rip a wheelie with my fat ass on it in any gear, but was still VERY rideable in the woods or at Silver Lake. Wouldn't over heat or spark knock (had to run ~110 octane in it though).
In any case, you've got the easiest mod-able quad out there, next to a Banshee. Have fun with it!
Well it was everthing you said. I have only been able to ride it a few times but it is pretty quick and likes to keep the front wheels in the air. :woot:
It is going to the dunes in a few weeks. I am hoping to get some paddles for it by then. :nana:
Not to hijack the thread, but if you're looking for paddles, try and find a set of 8-paddle tires. I had the Kenda Geckos on it for a while, then tried a 10 paddle setup. Both the Geckos and the 10 paddles rob too much power. I borrowed a set of 8 paddles from a friend and there's barely any power loss.
So im looking into Front sand tires for the quad down the road.. im not sure if i wana run the sand tires on polished wheels or Paint them like the dirt wheels..
