My father in law has a 02 Sierra 2500HD that has rusted out rockers and cab corners. I have been doing some reading online and it looks like new parts can be had for $300. I was curious if anyone has replaced these before to get an idea of how hard of a job it is.

My buddy works at a body shop and told me they charge about 5k to do them.:(. It's about one full week of work to do . They take the bed off the doors and front fenders to have access to the panels. Then cut out a million spot welds . I need to do this also . His advise is do one side at a time so the cab won't flex. He has done a few dozen . The parts are cheap ,the labor not so much!

I just spoke to a family friend that does a lot of body work and he does rockers/cab quite often on GM trucks....he said there is about $300-$400 in materials (paint/rockers/epoxy) and he typically charges about $1200. He said he has had to charge up to $2000 for a crew cab that had significent damage to the vertical internal rockers and both sides shot.

I've done quite a few of them and the shop I work at charges $1500/side for rocker and cab corner if it needs more than those two parts it's more. Let's put it this way my 01 needs them and I still havn't done them. I fixed my totaled 03 instead of doing the rockers on my 01 even though the 01 would be worth more money than the 03 lol

I thought you were talking about the whole rocker panel . The outer ,the middle and the inner one . If you don't replace them all it's just cosmetic. They all rust out that is why so $. If you do just the outer cosmetic one then it's only a few hindered dollars . They are easy to do . I'm doing the outers in a few weeks on mine . The parts are only 350 and should only take a day or two at most . The sad thing is if you were to do this right it's about a weeks worth of work at a body shop and it's quite expensive. The parts are 700 to 800 alone for the full panels and cab corners . I use Lmc truck parts ,they are thicker than most . Good luck ! I'll do a thread on mine when I do them .
