just finishing up my tj and my buddys tj(wheelsofsteele). he did a 60 front w 60 rear out of a 79 ford. had a rubicon long arm so we changed the upper links in rear, tossed the rear trackbar and built a 3 link for the front. i did a 60 front 14 bolt rear,3 link front, leaves in the rear. streched to 103. i built new arms for the front and 2.5 currie joints. will post up pictures and more detail when i figure out how to get these pictures in photobucket. we started mikes jeep july 29 sun night and finishing it up today. his tj is a 1997 mine is a 2003. there is some diffrent stuff between the years.i will give detail on what we ran into.
Irok sidewalls are garbage and you know you have issues with sidewalls, 42" mtrs are hard to get a hold of and $$$$. I still think you're best bet is the 43" non sticky but I'm just winging it too :sonicjay: Get some of those 17" bling lightweight racelines that TC breaks and you'll have a wheel/tire weight lower than the sticky 42 on a steel weld on beadlock. :naughty:
i will be running raceline wheels. you guys are killing me. i love the 43sx, i dont know.travis made me a good offer on his combo.saving a couple grand or more if i was buying new.
i can get eather one.just dont know.i want a sticky,im running the whole srrs.i dont have the power a bunch of other guys do.i need to keep it light as i can,so a sticky light 42 seems to be the smarter way to go.i need any kind of edge i can get. but yes i also think just buy some 43 stickies.but they are so soft they only will last half as long and cost a shit ton. i really need a tire sponshorship.im going to make some calls and see what i can come up with.
i know its amazing how much softer the sticky 43 is then the regular.a sticky is a grand more for a 43 and will last half as long. i dont know i will make my mind up soon.
I honestly don't think a sticky would be all that beneficial for a rock bouncer going fast. I find that some of my best traction is at an idle. Sitting on a hill and smoking the tires would burn them up in no time. I'm also not sure that in a bias 42-43" tire that there is much of a difference as long as they are a big lug tire.
Beefy is bringing the "win" to this thread. :beerbang: I second, third, whatever, just flat out agree that you need tough sidewalls. And i guess its debatable on the sticky's. I just don't see where sticky's are worth it when all you're doing is hammering it. Sticky's definitely have an advantage when crawling though, and I think you're past the crawling phase
i like to just tool around and be nice.i wheel around my place all the time.i just hammer it when i get bored. yea you guys are right i need to get the 43 and be done.beefy did your stop leaking air? was it just the rims?
I need new rims I've just accepted it and don't air down less than 7 psi now.
I'm saving for an Atlas right now.
I will say your lig looks bad ass with 20's but it's just not gonna work with your style unless you spend ballar money on the new racelines (I think thats what Cameron has) and even that wont last long
No point in coveing your nice tube work, instead I think a few custom aluminum panels would look and flow better than a whole hood.
