I want to buy a set of headphones. Over the ear or around the ear style (not in the ear), probably noise canceling, $150-ish or under. There are only 98249 choices in headphones out there. I know there are some audio geeks on here, lets hear you opinions on what I sould buy. The winner gets first dibs on hearing my new rap song.

I prefer in the ear so I went with skullcandy. They were $30 and they allow me to still use the mic on my iPhone.
There are Bluetooth in the ear ones my ex was looking at but I know they were pretty steep in price.
I have tried the Sony over the ear headphones and I'd like the look and sound of those. I am pretty sure you can get them under $50 w/ taxes.

You are right, I am a big time baller, tv star, but I am still a cheap ass. If I broke a $299 pair of head phones I would cry. I already smashed one computer this season, prolly more carnage to come.

We attempted to watch a movie, the in flight intranet brought the suck that flight, however we did play with the headphones and enjoy a drink to two...and come on green, nick said he liked them, and he hates everything...I've seen you do way dumber things than smash $299 headphones, so you are good

I have a pair of Monoprice 8323 headphones that have been great and they're only $23.20. I wouldn't mind something more serious, but these are compared surprisingly favorably against other headphones in the $50-80 neighborhood and I don't feel nervous about letting kids use these. My only real complaint is that the padding on the headband isn't the most comfortable, but they haven't bothered me too much.

If you're interested and want more info, let me know. These are used for primarily for general computer use, so I'd want to put in a bit of music seat time to refresh my ears before commenting too much on audio quality. They're more than decent for casual listening though.

I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I can appreciate the differences. For reference, I listen to music the most on a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 towers, powered by a Yamaha RX-V1300, with a Slimdevices Squeezebox as the source. The Squeezebox is currently connected via Toslink/optical, since I found that I prefer the sound from the Yamaha's DACs over the sound of the DAC in the Squeezebox. FWIW, I chose the Monitor 7s over Studio 20 bookshelves for the fuller sound and because the 7s pull double duty as mains for 5.1 sources (i.e. movie duty.)
