So, we've been shopping around to buy a couple hand guns. I cannot believe how store after store is picked clean.
I wanted to rent a gun to test out what I'd want to buy at the local indoor range, and all you can rent are .40-.45 because that is all they have ammo for. (This gun range will only rent you guns if you buy ammo from them)
I never went gun shopping when Clinton was president, so tell me was it like this then? Not only are there no guns, but no ammo.
Inventories are so low, I'm thinking it has to be hurting the small gun shops, makes sense to me if there is no inventory, there are no sales and no profilts. That can't be good.
This reminds me of the oil embargo back in the 70's when there were huge lines for gas and stores running out of toilet paper. Crazy!
I bought an xdm 45 recently. I went in Thursday night to look and they had 6, I came back Friday morning and I bought the display gun because it was the only one left.
Meijer has been out of 45 since I bought the last 3 boxes almost a month ago. Walmart had a couple left but they cost more.
Local gun store has been out of rifles but has a decent shotgun and hand gun collection still. I havent looked at their ammo closely but they seemed to have decent stock.
I can hide my xd alright. But the shield is a lot nicer. I hear that at the shot show going on right now that the xds 40 would be released. Haven't heard anything though. Yes I am very big on 40 deft my favorite cal for carry. Also like 10mm.
XDs-9 was released this year. Should be available in the second quarter but anyone familiar with the XDs-45 knows how that worked out. The outer dimensions are identical to the .45. The walls of the grip have been beefed up to accommodate the smaller mag of the 9 and the barrel walls are thicker to accommodate the smaller 9mm bullet. Which to me means the gun will weigh more. The 9mm will hold 2 more rounds. They are saying the .40 will be one more year before release.
. The smaller private owned places seem to be getting more guns and ammo. We went to two today, both had plenty of ammo...just not a real great selection of guns.
We went to a well-known small hunting/sporting goods store today. They had more inventory. I wanted a Rueger .357 GP100 revolver. They didn't have it, so I settled on a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. They had ammo too. They received 5 in a shipment early this morning. All five were sold before noon. When we were at the gun counter, there were five other people buying some kind of hand gun. Two other women were buying guns besides me. Going to the range to fire it tomorrow. Can't wait!
I can walk half block to my local gun store and get ammo for any of my guns. They have a room in their basement they keep stocked with ammo, it's an old walk in safe that was in the building. As for handguns they keep a pretty good selection. Waiting for my AR to come in, but have been buying .223 couple boxes a paycheck.
buddy of mine just called me from gander mountain. Said they had at least 20 cases of 9mm in 250pk. And plenty of 50 count and JHP. No worries on the 9mm for now I guess
Just stopped at wally world, got the last lonely 100rd pack of .40 FMJ for $36.97
