The diesel go to guys at Hallis performance in Romeo told me to take the muffler off my stock exhaust on my 99 7.3 and run it. That alone made a diference the turbo spools up alot faster . Then I added a edge evolution programmer and now it pulls my trailer loaded without downshifting with on ton of power. I average around 11.5 mpg loaded.
The edge will kill your trans because it doesn't do anything for it. If I was you I would sell the edge and get a custom tuned chip from either DP or Tony Wildman.
back in my powerstroke days:teehee: I heard that the DP or the TS chip was a good setup on the 7.3L. Kind of like the SCT tuning for the 6.0L....or the PPE or EFIlive for Dmaxs
haha, i just got done doing the same thing last night. In the last 2 weeks ive installed an edge Juice & attitude monitor, new 1 piece headlights, new wheels and tires, and a 4" TB MBRP exhaust. Just waiting on a silicone coupler and i can install my AFE stage 2 air intake.
every where that I've done research it says that if you have the auto you don't want the edge stuff. I'd use it since I have the stick. The Powerstroke forum recommends selling it and geting a custom tuned chip from DP or TW which also accounts for the trans.
I really wanted to do a AFE or the SB intake but I couldn't justify it over the DIY tymar. Do you know love the sound of your jet fighter . . . I mean turbo truck :woot::woot:
Your right about the edge juice it doesn't do anything for your trans you need to add a trans kit with that programer. The evolution on the other hand recalibrates the motor and trans to work together. I ran a superchip up until this year and was happy with it. I asked a Ford diesel Mech, Who also has a diesel performance shop and he recomended this chip from personal experience. This guy has been in DP magizine he goes to the diesel shootouts and competes so I trust what he tells me. the cool thing about Hallis is he tell you if your wasting your money!
