wiring up a 6 way rv style big round plug connector. Is there a trick to doing this so I don't have to put a new connector on every season? I'm on my 3rd connector in 2 years!
This is the connector on the truck side. the d@mn things keep corroding and shorting out. The last one I replaced I even filled the stupid thing with di-electric grease and it still corroded out. GGGRRRR........
1. on the stuff that hangs out in the elements i usually fill it with epoxy. i take the plug end and stick it face down in a hunk of plastilina, (oil based sculptors clay) then fill the backside with epoxy till it fills up. they go for years that way no prob. the downside is if something gives inside the housing, you have to chuck the whole thing and start over.
2. they make a marine version, if i remember the brand ill post it. (forgot) its not one youd recognize normally, and it isnt cheap, but it forces you to make you connections further up the line so there out of the scum, ie. what muddinguy said.

Wasnt there someone on here who had that black gel you use to encase circuit boards in ??? dip the wiring in that shit... or use the expoxy idea.. just something to totally seal it away...
I have had the same plug on my van for 5 years with no trouble...it's the damn trailer side plugs that keep falling out and then getting drug off on the pavement that I have trouble with. This year I started duck taping them in to keep them from coming out.
yup, thats the one I'm having trouble with. it looks like i'm getting electrolosis between the wires and the plug terminals. ??? I keep getting this blueish white powder inside the plug. kinda like the crud on a battery terminal.???
yea its the same idea, its just that its sealed on both ends and theres an O ring on the male. one version screws together like a garden hose, the other just pushes in.
not sure if this is the right pic, but its real close -
