You need to take distributor out and make a rod that fits in the slot of the pump like the distributor does. The other end will hook up to a drill electric or cordless whatever you got and spin away.
na theres a gear inside of the engine which is run by the distributor but not attached to it. im not sure if i pull this gear out how to get it back in w the appropriate timing.
1- Take a old oil pump drive shaft and cut the teeth off the drive gear then have a shaft with a slot on it to hook up to your drill.
2- Take the drive shaft out and get a priming shaft that goes direct to the pump from the drill.
OIL PUMP PRIMING SHAFT
Special hardened steel priming shaft fits on any 3/8" or larger drill. Insert shaft into hole where distributor fits. Pressurizes oil galleys to ensure against dry starts and ruining your engine.
ive got the tool to prim mopar oil pumps! just used it on my big block its the same one as small blocks you just have to remember how the gear went when its time to put it back in or put it to TDC. i want to say u can use a peice of 5/16 hex rod like allen wrench but i dont know tomany places to get the rod at.
thanks. i took the gear out and primed it by hand. luckily the p.o had removed part of the firewall to gain access to the distributor. clearance issues like this make me wonder about the engineers designing this crap.
Its true. Ive worked with engineers and almost done with my bachelors in mechanicle engineering and Have been a mechanic for 10 years. I know all sides! Comes down to just plain ignorant people really.
