Good numbers and informative.:thumb: If you really want to do it complete, you should add Randy's super joints, or Longfields or CTM's along with a heavy duty diff cover.
BTW, if it makes you feel better, I was wrong to say that my 60 was cheaper than a 44. But, it's certainly stronger.:thumb:
My 60 and 14B were $1200 together (disregarding shipping because I wanted them immediately). Both were already geared and had working brakes, and the 14B had a Detroit. I added $250 for a Lockrite in the 60 and had two locked 1-ton axles installed in my rig for under $1500. Meh. Worked well for me and my penis growing 42s :d:
Sure they aren't blingin with cool parts, but what eva yo'...
I got F ed in the A
500 for Gears and install kits + 650 for labor + 300 for lock rite = Dana 30 w/4.10s and Chrysler 8.25 w/ 4.10s and lock rite = 1 month of fun and 2nd blown motor
for what I have into my dana 44's in my tracker I'm certain I could have had 60's that would be trouble free instead of needing maintenance all the time.
here is the break down of my spider hi-9's for anyone who cares:
5 lug front roller kit: 2060.00
brake rotors: 420
calipers, pads and mounts: 415
steering arms: 330
drive flanges: 250
inner seals: 50
inner shafts can be anywhere from 1500 to 3500 so we'll round down to 2000
center section: 35 spline spool and nodular case from yukon or strange or someone is about $1000 or you can spend another grand and get a hi-9 which is the ultimate.
front spider hi-9 all decked out... by no means is this as much as you can spend on an axle... this is till relatively "cheap" compared to what some people are running.
$7525
the rear is about $4000 depending on how you do it.
now if I saw this price before I started my project I'd tell you you were smoking crack.... I bought one piece at a time as I had a few extra dollars here and there, sold everything I could think of and skip lunch some days and eat on $3 other days I eventually got most of the parts.... now most of you wouldnt think of skipping on lunch to afford parts and others find it common... I'm hoping that by doing this that some day i'll have a little bit of a return on this investment and I'll still be having fun while I'm at it.
nomatter what vehicle you have, you should always have good axles because they will out-live everything they are attached to! :sonicjay:

thats a good breakdown of spider 9's. i have a significant amount more into both of mine but i have 300m shafts and other "bling" stuff.
rear steer also adds a shit ton of money to the rear axle too. i figured what the hell and bought it anyways. its not like i can take the money with me when i die right?
it is not that much more for 300m inners if you get the from the right place... spidertrax inners with longfield joints breaks down to:
inners: 1300
outers: 1000
joints: 400
totaling 2700 as opposed to the 2000 I factored in or the 1300 it would cost for mosers machined for 50 degrees and longfield 300m joints... ot you can go with the 1550 knuckles for an extra 100-150 and run the longfield cv's which would be awesome but you are limited to 45 degrees by design of the cv. otherwise 300m 1550 shafts from ctm are in the neighbor hood of $4500
the big difference of where you cost came in is the rear steer... as you can see that is abotu 2x the cost of a rear axle so you spent 15000 as opposed to 11000.
rear shafts are 1100 from CTM with drive flanges which I thought was amazing... longfield sells just 300m double splined shafts for 375 each which is very affordable and I'm not sure where branik is but they are probably pretty affordable too.
when I bite the bullet I'm probably going with CTM in the rear just because I can and the 300m spidertrax stuff in the front.
just out of curiousity.... what vehicle are you putting the spider 9's in?
ok my buddy just bought a 99 tj with a 4 inch lift 4.0 and 33's. we are building it cheap. 1 tons, full cage, 39's and of course rollin on 20" dubs. we are building all the long arms and using heims that are on pirate for dirt cheap. just bought a set of used bling bling 20's for 500.00.axle hunting as we speak...i will see how cheap we do this one and report back.
This, or Nuzzy's post are somewhat of a different topic, though, more of bargain hunting.
Trust me, I always look for bargains, too, but there are also times you just go out and get what you want, when you want it because you have a timeline to meet, or don't feel like parting out a truck, etc.
I think the numbers Monkey has in the charts are a good market average and good for building a budget around.
Should toss up the numbers for a Toy front axle as well, stock housing and diamonds (I'd take a custom width diamond housing with taco diff over a built dana 44 anyway).
Just an update for anyone considering the numbers.... The spidertrax prices for the stub shaft are listed as individual making the actual cost of shafts 1800-2300 for 4340 and 300m. 300m is too rich for my blood so 4340 it is! :sonicjay:
You broke a 15 yr old shaft I wheeled on for 3 yrs with 4ds and v8 lol from my old 60 that I bent the both sides of the housing with. The shaft you broke was in my current 60 :sonicjay: not the 60 I wrecked.
