What often happens is mud will get past the outer seal and into the inner seal, and will eventually ruin it. You should get some of the better outer seals to prevent it from happening again.
Where does the outer go? I would have thought there would be one on the outer end of the housing to prevent all the mud, sand and dirt from getting in the tube. But not on my axle.
It goes exactly where you would expect it to - on the end of the axle tube. It keeps the tubes from getting all full of mud / sand / dirt / whatever and ruining your inner seals.
I also need a caliper bracket for the drivers side. It seems to be bent. It barely holds the caliper in place, but then again the little bracket that holds it together on the bottom is tack welded on. Can I get one from the auto parts store?
If figures as I just sand blasted an extra one I had and it turns out it has a L on in.
Turns out the bracket is fine, just the retainer bracket was welded on crooked. I will get a new bolt and bolt it on correctly.
