The windshield in my 91 bronco is junk and I need to replace it, and I'm looking to save as much cash as possible. F150s are much more common in the u-pull-its around here than broncos, and I want to know if any of you have ever swapped a windshield from one to the other, or whether they're compatible. I think they should be, since the bronco and f150 fronts are almost identical in most aspects for this model year. Thanks in advance for any info.
I'm pretty confident that I can cut one out without too much of a problem, but I was thinking about paying someone who actually knows what they're doing to install it in my truck.
Well, as it turns out I cannot cut one of those things out. At least not without cracking it in the process. I used a nice knife to make a starter hole, then used .020 piano wire to cut the sealant. Problem is, there are certain places where the wire refuses to cut and just breaks instead, so in attempting to get past this with a knife, I kept cracking the glass. How do I get past that? I did have a friend helping me, but he's just as clueless as I am.
I have swapped them on Broncos it a couple times. Only thing I can say is go slow and be careful. I started the cuts with a razor knife then just kept cutting deeper using a sharp thin flexible knife to get all the way thru.If you are going to pay someone to install it it might be worth it just to pay for the glass as well. I am having one of my 4Runners done for $125
They are the same, almost every single part thats on an F150 can go on a Bronco as long as they are the same year, or at least the same body style. The only exceptions are the back panels since the Bronco doesn't have a bed, the tail gate, and the topper.
i agree with above, worth the $ to just have a new one installed.
