Goose Creek State Forest Trails?

Going to a horse trail ride in Goose Creek this week and was looking at the website for general area for geocaching when I came across this on the site:

Frederic Loop Trail (1 mile East): 29 miles of cycle/ATV trail and 9 miles of full-sized vehicle ORV route. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. There is also a submersible pump that requires a 5000 watt generator to run.

As you can see the bolded and red portion caught my attention. This mean there are legal trails there that I can go down? I will have my TJ with me and would love to check out some local trails if they are legal. How do I find the maps of the trails because I will have my GPS and make sure that I stick to them. Any information about this area would be great! Does this mean that 4WD is legal down these trails or is it one of the only if you can get through in 2WD? Thanks!

Okay after much searching this is the map of the area I've found http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialda...v/frederic.pdf So let me get this straight. As long as I stay on the dotted trail I'm good to go? Thanks.

If you go, let us know if there is anything on the Route that requires the use of 4wd.

Will do. I'll do my best to map it out to a .gpx file. And post it up on here.

I've ran that trail before when we had a cottage on the manistee river just north of Cameron Bridge Road. . The trail is super easy, but the forests up there are really nice.
Hopefully you get there after some ran or it will be terribly dusty.

Yes thats how the camp was last year. Extremely dusty and no rain had come for weeks. There's supposed to be rain for the two days before we get there I believe so it shouldn't be too bad hopefully.

We have run the ORV route many times with both our old ATVs and now our TJ. Its a nice run for the jeep. Just make sure you have an ORV permit. This route is hard to miss, the south side of the trail is right off M72.
