Duramax/Allison Question

As some of you might know I haven't been driving my truck the past 4 months or so as the woman has been driving it to save miles on her lease.

Well today when coming home from up north I went to pass someone and when i put my foot into it it would rev up a bit, then eventhough i was holding it down the RPM's didn't increase and neither did my speed...just like it was being governed out. I did it a few more times later and it did almost the same thing. Its like it didn't want to upshift.

I also tried it a few times from a dead stop, it would do the 1-2 shift and maybe the 2-3 and it would just sit there and hold the gear without allowing my speed to really increase(it was just barely inching higher), then after 5-10 seconds it would shift and it would pull hard just like it usually does.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Does anyone know about it?

sounds like a flash issue. have you had it to the dealer for this problem yet? if not theres a new flash for your trans controler waiting

Nope I haven't. About a year ago I had it in and they replaced the trans module.

So are you saying if i call up service tommorow they should understand whats going on and make it a quick in and out?

Do they charge you to flash you...hehe...or is it like a warranty/recall thing?

there was tons of TSBs on the allison trans for malfunctions in the controller. if its under a tsb it should be free to you.

I guess I should feel lucky that mine has made it to nearly 90k with minimal problems.

Oh well at 107k my warranty is up and I'm going to start modding it a bit. If the Allison goes after that I'll get an ATS or something for it.

Yep have it flshed and then have her drive it like you. It is OBDII and it does learn driving styles. But I would have it checked out none the less.

www.dieselplace.com for all of your answers

mine did some things like what you described a while ago, i think i had an egr code and a tranny code. i have an LLY engine though

i'd recommend a suncoast level 3 or 4, IMO ATS is overpriced

Hey man, i'm glad to see you bought a Dmax! Check out www.dieselplace.com for all the answers. I am "APEXrtx" on there.

ATS has some excellent products but so does suncoast. When the time come for my upgrade I'll probably go with the suncoast.

The truck is running fine. It seems that it might have changed it's shift points because our driving styles are drastically different.. or something like that. :tonka:

Actually I found out that its not running right today when I almost met Jesus. That darned shifting this is kind of important when you need to get moving.
