Price range? For wheeling? A little info?

The SR5 package is just a better trim packege... like crome, color matching, depending what your looking at, buckets and center council... multi speed wipers... that kind of stuff.

No that would be the TRD package, but only availble in the pickup trucks. SR5 is a 4Runner/Sequioa(sp) package. Its one up from the basic package (SE basic?) and then the top of the line would be Limited.

Yeah, depends on the year..

SR5 = top trim level...

So, with say a late 80s runner, it'd be stuff like nice cluster with tach, bucket seats, power windows, cruise, chrome wheels, etc....

I know I have two 85s, both efi, one is a normal trim, one is an SR5, so those are the kind of differences there are..

Actually, I just noticed the TRD exhaust and wheels are available on the new FJ Cruiser!

I've got a 95 now. Looking for something newer. No rust or dents. Mostly to be used to haul crap from Auburn Hills area to West Branch. Some wheeling. I'll put my winch on it. Maybe a locker. Something comfortable. Must have air and hold pop bottles. Maybe to move a travel trailer. Looking in the $2-5g range.

So you want a 96 or newer for $2000-$5000??? Not gonna happen man. Toyotas hold their value very well, I doubt you will find one in good shape for less than $10,000 or so.

Good point! Maybe I'll have to look at something older like these:

Or, I might have to get another Cherokee!

Yeah, you'll find lots of those early-mid runners for actually pretty cheap. They are a bit heavy for the 3.0 which only makes 150 hp/180 ft-lbs..

Just an info tid-bit:
96 was the first year for drivers side airbag
98 was the first year Dual front airbags

the '98's usually start at $7000 and have 150k plus on the clock

There is a pretty nice yota in traverse city for sale some lift grey with black top and it has little or no rust. I dont know what year it is but the top comes off it has a snorkel and safari rack. He is asking $4500 for it. probably a deal I would buy it if I could sell my explorer.

SR5 originated as the premium equipment level back in the 80s.

And Swampjeep is correct - back then one of the prime bennies of the extra dollars to buy the SR5 package was the 5-speed tranny and full instrument package over the 4-speed. Think of it as the difference between a TJ SE and a TJ Sport.

They had an SR-5 in every product line - trucks and cars.

Yeah, but a 5 was never an option over a 4 in a US market Hi-Lux... they simply replaced the L43s with the L50 as a MY change..
