Where to buy a trailer?

Tried searching, but the search function wasn't working for some reason.

Anybody know of some good places in SE Michigan to pick up a used car hauler? I haven't found much of anything for trailer classified ads, and I haven't seen much for sale in peoples' yards or anything. I'm not getting one immediately, but I'd like to start browsing around and pricing stuff out. Any suggestions?

My last was from antique... cheap, in both price and construction.

If I was getting another, I'd just build mine, but my father's buying one, so it'll be decent and he'll store it at my house anyway.

Hubby and I went to the Jayco trailer place on 59 near Pontiac Lake Rd and they had 7000# GVW trailer w/a beavertail, dual axle w/brakes and wood bed for $2290. They would install the trailer control in your truck for $120 if I remember correctly. It's not a used one, but that's a good price for new. Hopefully we're going back to get ours soon!!

There is a guy in Waterford, Clarkston area that sells random trailers for cheap. In fact I just saw a car hauler out there the other day. He is located on White Lake Rd between Dixie Hwy and Andersonville Rd. I don't have his information but there are allways trailers out by the street for sale. If I drive by there the next few days I will get more info for you.

Also you could contact JCR offroad and have them build you one that would be nicer, stronger, and last longer than any one u would buy..

Any of you guys know what it costs to register a trailer? I heard that in the past year or 2 the law changed and you pay some big fee up front and never have to pay again. How exactly does it work, and what kinda cost is it?

Thought of that, but it'd be out of my budget I'm sure.

I believe the license plate is $200 for one that will never expire. I forget.. maybe only $75? Go to www.michigan.gov and look it up :-)

There are two places south of Will-Carleton Rd on Telegraph that sells trailers:

1. Kelly Trailer Sales @ Carleton-Rockwood & Telegraph
2. Antique Auto Sales/USA Trailer Sales @ Telegraph/South Stoney Creek/North Monroe St.

Antique Auto/USA trailer has a New Boston location on Willow Rd between Clark Rd and Waltz Rd.

Both Antique locations have a full line of trailers to fit any budget. From piles of shit to nice MacLanders.

Also, another place is at US23 and Plank Rd. There is lots of nice stuff on the lot, I haven't checked prices or quality.

Drove by there today....the only trailer I saw was only single axle and way too small for my Jeep.

Howlands in Waterford. On Williams lake rd just past Dixie Hwy. They have a couple on the lot right now. Also, there is one used one that has a steel deck at about 2200.

Yep, I pass that place everyday going to and from work....problem is they're always closed when I pass there before 8am and after 5pm.

That diamondplate decked one looks damn nice, but $2200 is about $1000 more than I'd like to or can spend on the trailer itself.

1200 nowadays buys you a big pile of shit. Every used one i looked at when i was in the market for one was a pile. Hold off for a new one if you can.
I got one from antique. It was cheap (1600) and a pile but it was new pile none the less.

I got my steel deck Mac Lander from them and I was happy with the service / price. Make sure you get brakes on both axles if your gross weight is going to be over 3000 pounds. I actually got stopped by a Motor Carrier for going over 55 on the interstate and he checked to make sure both axles had brakes.
