lookingh for a way to manualy shift a 94 want to convert from push button to man

I wouldn't even think about it. The shift mechanism is on the back of the transfer case and turns clockwise/counter-clockwise (perpendicular to the driveshaft) so fabbing up some sort of shifter would be quite a task. On top of that, the shifter motor actually seals against the transfer case (not that fluid would come out, but it's possible you could get dirt/water inside).

It would be easier to find a manual shift case and swap it in (and cut a hole in your floor).

Exactly - if you can find a manual shift 1354 out of an earlier bronco II, ranger, or explorer (althought I'm not sure they offered it in a sploder'), or even a newer FX4 Level II ranger, it'll bolt right in and work with your current drive shafts. You may have to modify the shift linkage to clear your dog house or adapt to where/how you cut your hole for the lever.

Yup....find a manual shift 1354. They did offer them in explorer's....don't know which ones though. You should be able to find a 1354 with a linkage that would work in your 94. I've heard that the 1350 works too....not ideal though.

I know they work in the rangers, so I can't imagine why they wouldn't work in the explorers

I've heard of 1350's holding up just fine to V8 abuse.

The difference between the two cases is the output yoke for the front driveshaft. I think the 1350 is a slip yoke style where the 1354 is a fixed yoke. Either can be swapped into an Explorer with front driveshaft and linkage modifications.

Other than that I'm pretty sure that the 1354's are newer and will most likely have less miles than a 1350.

I forgot to mention the exploder is a 5 speed the man transfercase is from a 98 aod do not know 1350 or 1354 or what man transfercase is behind 2.9 ltr

Well my 1350 is definately a slip yoke and has a manual shifter.

1354 back You'll see the electronic shifter.

1354 Front - Compared to the next image, note the fixed front output shaft.

1350 transfercase - The long front output thing is for the slip yoke (image is flipped or upside down or something, the front output is on the drivers side).

Also, a quick search noted that both the 1350 and 1354 came in both manual versions and electric versions? (1350 was supposedly only available for a few short years compared to the total run, the 1354 mechanical was supposedly offered for the same period as the electric case). Can anyone verify that?

do you happen to know if a transfer case off an auto well fit a 5 speed

It should. I swapped a manual into my Explorer and it bolted right up to the t-case from the automatic.

As for the electric shift vs manual.....pretty sure they were offered at the same time.

I was just going to say that as well - I'm also in the auto -> manual swap process right now
