Question Rear Axel Issues

Here's the problem I noticed that I have a big gob of bearing grease coming out of the axel tube where it meets up at the brake backing plate. It is at the top of the tube right below the wheel cylinder. I put it up on jack stands and the tire has a definite wobble when running in gear. I can't grab it and move it. What do ya think the issue is? I have an 86 wide trac model 20 rear with a 1 piece axel upgrade and a Detroit locker. Any info would be appreciated.

Well, the problem is that you're spelling AXLE wrong. I bet that is the root of all of your problems.

Actually, did you just recently do the one piece conversion? If so, could the shop have pressed the bearing on wrong or damaged it while pressing it on? This might be part of it. The bearing could have slung grease off of it, in the process of going bad. I'd remove the axle and check out the bearing itself and the seal. Just because you can't wiggle it by hand, doesn't mean that it isn't bad.

Yeh, I think your right. I would guess it happened when we were climbing up that spot that the BUG couldn't make it up. I just watched the video that "Muffin "sent and that was a pretty big bounce at the top of that hill.
