Cooper stt vs BFG mt

I use to have the old cooper stt's that has the same tread pattern as bfg mt's...cooper has changed their stt's and they now have a different tread pattern. Does anyone have these tires? Just wondering how they stack up against the old tread pattern?

i have a set on my 07 ram 285/70-17's, and have had them before like them very much, they are cheaper than most other tires too.

i know bbaxj has my old ones and they are holding up good.

great in the snow, and not super loud on the highway.

they look alot like another good $$$ tire, the toyo mt's

I am currently running 35" STT's. Haven't had then long enough to give a "full" review, but so far I'm halfway impressed. In the deep snow they do quite well. A little noisier on the road than my BFG MT's were and a little harder to get a good balance. I hold out hope that they will grow on me more.

STT=MTR

basically same tire (esc sidewall). But i haven't seen to many STT's cup as quickly or as harsh as the MT/R does.

Thanks for the reviews guys...I think I am going to get a set, I have always had goodluck with coopers and I actually have a brand new set of off brand coopers on my Burb right now but they are AT's and I am looking to get something alittle more aggressive and I am going bigger.

I have 265 75 16's on it right now but I think I can fit 285's, it looks like I have the room.

I've got a set of the STTs in 35x12.5R17 on my truck. I've got around 15-20k on them I think and they've been great tires for me. Noise is there but nowhere near annoying, the siping works great(I'll never own another MT without it after these), they're smooth, wear fine, etc. I've been very impressed with traction in all conditions.....dry, wet, ice, snow, deep snow, dirt, mud, all that crap they do well. They don't seem to be wearing quite as well as my BFG MTs did but they more than make up for it elsewhere. I'm pretty hard on them and it should still be easy to get 35k out of the set.

I have the STT tek 3's in 35x12.50x15 and love em. Last fall I had two Charter vans in my driveway (installing the new phone service) and I went around them and accidentaly slid into the ditch. The only problem is that the road commission just put in new drainage tubing and then cut it back leaving jagged edges. I thought for sure I was gonna slice the tire. The tire rubbed it pretty good and didn't even phase it. Plus, my neighbor has about 60k on his same tires (STT's) for his truck and with proper rotation, they still look good. I'd buy these tires again. Hope this helps some. Ohhh, I think I paid about $1250.00 for all 5 of my tires (35x12.50x15) after tax with the Discount Tire road hazzard warranty. That actually was a pretty good deal. They will replace side wall punctures from the trail under that warranty.

I have a 2000 tj with 33's I had the old style STT's and some BF AT's just put on a set of new STT's I notice the that the new tires do very well in 2 inches of snow. The old design made my TJ a little unpradictable in light snow. The new design did alot better in simular conditions. I can't wait to try them off road. So far I really like the new tire. The old ones lasted about 40,000 miles without rotating. Mine were very noisy toward the last 5,000 miles of service.
