Ruff Stuff dana 44 axle cover photos

FYI, pretty impressed with the diff cover. Just got the front axle one installed today. It lined up perfect, and I also received extra drain bolts and gaskets, along with two spare diff cover bolts. Thanks for the fast shipment! I do think I doubled the weight of my front axle though . I bet I won't dent that cover.

I ordered mine with the drain hole, as well as countersunk bolts. With the gl4x4 discount, it was under $100.00 shipped to my door.

Cool, looks beefy! I have been looking for a heavy duty diff cover for my dana 30 but I really wanted one with a drain plug. Only one I could find is the ARB, but I think I will go with this one now.

I've got the same cover sans the drain plug and countersunk bolts. It's a mean piece of steel and definitely belongs on the fat farm in a good kinda heavy way.

Grandcherokee and I went to install her ruffstuff cover on her dana 44 and it didn't fit due to her ARB piping through the bearing cap. Even if the line was bent more it would not clear. I'll report back when we hear from Ruff stuff what the recommendation is.

hmm i would grind a notch out for the line and then weld a piece of plate over the outside

We talked about that but we'd have to take a pretty good chunk out of it. The diff cover was about an 3/4 - 1" from closing on that side. Even after reshaping the ARB line, it was still at least 1/2" from closing. prolly have to box it in a bit. Had we had the diff cover when the ARB was install, we might have been able to massage it enough but I'm not sure. Dan makes some great parts and this is the first issue that I've ever heard of. Had we not had an ARB in there, it wouldn't even be one. Whatever the case, i'm sure he'll make it right.

you recieved a defective cover. dan is shipping one right away to remedy the problem. there will be a discount for the hassle and maybe even a reach around:tonka:

Someday I'll get around to putting on my 44 cover. Too bad Molten Image Design went under. These things got run over by a bulldozer for a diff cover test in some offroad magazine. The others all collapsed, but this one only got scratched up a bit. The ugy who made em' had a GREAT idea, but I think his execution was a bit off and what cost him his business. (Note the absence of any drain or fill plugs?)

Seriously though, Dan did ship out a new cover that was better and would have been fine except for the placement of the ARB air line on karen's Dana 44. It came out of the center of the cap and stuck up a bit high. So the cover was close but didn't fit. AGAIN, I do not attribute this to any fault of RuffStuff. We happened to have a 1/2" think ring that we welded to Dan's cover to fix the issue and all is well after that.
